Division of Dinagat Islands held a

Seminar-Workshop on Campus Journalism

To strengthen the Campus Journalism in the Division of Dinagat Islands, the Department of Education in
this Province conducted a three-day Seminar-Workshop on Campus Journalism and School Paper
Advising on August 3-5 this year.

The Division Journalism Coordinator, Mr. Lope C. Papeleras spearheaded this said activity with 88
participants coming from the different schools divisionwide.

The invited resource speaker from Butuan City, who is the head of the Mass Com Department of Father
Saturnino Urios University (FSUU) , Mr. Bobby R. Henerale shared his knowledge in writing to the
participants.

Each participants was bringing his/her laptop and camera for the different activities.

The training topics were all about the desktop publishing ,news ,headline, feature, and editorial writing,
and photojournalism wherein the teachers were required to submit outputs before the activity closed in
the afternoon of August 5.

Dr. Bobby R. Henerale, dean Mass Communication department of Father

Saturnino Urios University was the invited speaker of the said training. He tackled the eight events
namely; Photojournalism, editorial writing, cartooning, feature writing, news writing, science and health
essay, copyreading and headline writing and sports writing.

“This is a good training for the pupils in preparation for the upcoming press
conference in the division, region, and national levels,” said Mrs. Janice L. Langit, school paper adviser of
the The Fibers. She said that she gained new insights from the lecture of Dr. Henerale

Tag-abaca National High School hosted District Journalism Training at Basilisa

Gymnasium on September 26-28, 2014. It was attended by 248 budding writers from Rizal District 2
both elementary and secondary with their school paper advisers.

Awarding of the best three articles in every event highlighted the closing
ceremony.
