Motivation – Keller’s ARCS Model
· Attention – I will grab the students’ attention by pictures of the protests currently happening, images of kids by themselves on a playground, and song lyrics, and quotes at the intro and ending about finding yourself and fitting in. · Relevance – I will imbed relevance of this story as all the 6th graders are new to the school and having to navigate how to fit in with a new group of friends and the importance of being able to understand and bridge different cultures being important as that is what current protest are about. · Confidence – I will integrate confidence by asking students questions for them to think about throughout the trailer to get them to think of the difficulties they are currently facing while trying to fit in at middle school. · Satisfaction – I will integrate satisfaction into the book trailer by having motivational quotes from and pictures at the end of the trailer of kids of different backgrounds playing together and helping each other.
