2. The discipline of anthropology encompasses a wide area of current fields of


study. Select three (3) fields of anthropology and explain each subfield’s

SOCIAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL AND PHILOSOPHICAL ISSUES IN EDUCATION


1. Discuss at least 3 philosophies of education and their respective proponents &
the specific implementation of the learner, the teacher, nature of learning activities
and the expected outcomes of the extensive application of each. Cite authorities to
support your discussion.

2. State at least 3 constitutional mandate as a legal basis of education. Discuss


how you as a school head (assume the position if you are not yet a school head)
can implement a regular schedule in-house training program for helping all your
teachers implement the mandate in their instructional activities.

METHODS OF QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH

1. Explain how you use your knowledge about each of the following, to enrich the
benefits of your own present leadership experiences:

a. the situation where you find yourself into;


b. the activities/tasks you are involved in; and,
c. the people you interact and work with?

2. One important aspect of learning from experiences in observing the


consequences on one’s actions. Sometimes, however, the most significant
consequences of a leader’s action do not occur immediately, it takes some time
before realizing the consequences of the act. If that is so, then is there anyway
individuals can learn from the consequences of those actions? If consequences
and/or realization of such are so delayed, is there danger they might draw the
wrong lessons from experiences? Rationalize.

3. Compare strategy formulation with strategy implementation in terms of each


being an art or a science. How can a manager/leader become successful in the
exercise or both?

4. Under what conditions are corrective actions not required in strategy-


evaluation process? As a school head, in what way and how frequently would you
evaluate the general operation and the overall performance of your school and
your people? Explain.

needs to undergo in its implementation?

ADVANCED STATISTICS

1. Two applicants are competing for an encoding job which requires a high degree
of accuracy. Under time pressure they are not allowed to edit their work before
printing a hard copy. Samples of their work are studied to measure the number of
typing errors they make per page. The results are as follows:

Encoder A: 2, 0, 3, 0, 5, 8, 10
Encoder B: 3, 2, 4, 3, 5, 5, 6

Find the mean and the standard deviation of the number of typing errors each
encoder committed. Compare the variability of these two sets of data and interpret
results. Based on these data, which encoder should be hired? Support your
answer.

3. The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) is a triennial study


by the Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD) which
evaluates 15-year olds’ proficiency in Reading Comprehension, Science and
Mathematics. Results of PISA 2018 showed that out of 79 countries, the
Philippines ranked lowest in Reading Comprehension and second lowest in
Science and Mathematics. As a Ph.D. candidate, what reforms can you suggest to
improved our placement? Propose a development plan to elevate our ranking.
