CLEANING PROCEDURE FOR SP/23 REV.

1. PURPOSE
To ensure that cleaning of equipment for sesame processing are done effectively.

2. SCOPE
This covers cleaning process of all equipment and also storage of raw materials, semi-
processed products and finished goods.

3. RESPONSIBILITY

Head (Raw material), Head (Hulling) & Head (Packing and final Storage) ensure
implementation of this procedure in their respective areas of work.

4.2 PROCESS ACTIVITY

4.2.1 The whole plant is divided in three parts (Seed Cleaning plant, Hulling/drying plant and
Sortex plant.). Cleaning process of each plant is different from other as per the associated risk.

Seed cleaning plant consist of machineries such as MTRA, DESTONER, GRAVITY, ELEVATORS, AIR
ASPIRATORS, PIPES and HOPPERS. As the seed cleaning plant have less risk it is cleaned by air
only. It is mainly cleaned pressurized air prior to starting and finishing the shift. Magnets and
sieves are cleaned at every two hours frequency. Magnets are cleaned by the cloth and sieves
are cleaned by the pressurized air only. Once in 15 days, the whole cleaning plant including
elevators are dismantle and done the deep cleaning. Deep cleaning is done by hot and normal
water one by one. Then after contact surface will be rinses with IPA (70%) solutions. No
chemicals are used for the cleaning of equipment.
Cleaning verification by taking swab from elevators and MTRA will be taken at every six months
frequency.
Hulling plant consists of WATER TANK, HULLERS, TUBS, SHIFTER, AGITATORS and CONVEYER
BELT. Hulling machineries are easy to dismantle and done it every shift. Hulling machineries are
cleaned by hot and normal cool water one by one before starting the shift and after the shift.
All the contact parts are rinsed with the IPA (70%) and leave open for the drying process. Water
tank is cleaned by every 15 days. Pipes for water transportation are replaced at every year.
No chemicals are used for the cleaning of equipment.

Cleaning verification by taking swab from conveyers, hullers, tubs and water tank will be taken
at every six months frequency.

Sortex machine plant consist of SILO, PIPES, ELEVATORS, MTRA, DESTONER, SORTER MACHINE,
METAL DETECTOR AND FINAL SILO STORAGE. This is a high-risk area as the final stage of
processing and heat treatment is already done. Cleaning is done very effectively in this section.
All the equipment is cleaned by pressurized air at every one hour and before and after the shift.
Deep cleaning of elevators is done by hot water and normal water at every week. Then after it
is rinsed with the IPA (70%) and leave for drying.
No chemicals are used for the cleaning of equipment.
Cleaning verification by taking swab from elevators, SILO, MTRA AND METAL DETECTOR will be
taken at every six months frequency.
