Acknowledgement
The tree of knowledge grows best when it has sturdy roots and the strength of them is
clearly dependent upon our intentions. During the journey of knowledge, we meet certain
people who play a pivotal role in our development and it’s a privilege to thank them for
the same. So, I would take this opportunity in expressing gratitude towards my mentor and
guide in this period of vocational training, Mr. M Patwardhan. It would have been
extremely difficult to cover this course without his able guidance and kind cooperation
throughout my training along with providing me with various knowledge about their
stations.
I also thanks to the workers of their respective stations, who were always ready to clarify
my doubts and helped me to increase my knowledge by illustrating me to the finer points.
I wish to express my deep gratitude to all the concerned persons, whose enthusiasing
support and co-ordination have given me the success to complete my training in the
organization.
I hope that my report will reflect my technical knowledge and innovativeness, which I
gained at GMR Chhattisgarh Energy Ltd.

Opportunity
The first phase of in-plant training has proved to be fruitful. It provides opportunity to
experience the working environment of such huge plant comprising high-tech machineries.
It provides an opportunity to learn how lean low technology used at proper place and time
can save a lot of time.
In-plant training has allowed the student to get an exposure for the practical implementation
to theoretical fundamentals, which would be of great use in coming future.

Methodology
During the training period, the trainees were first given theoretical knowledge about the
thermal power plant that included the principle of thermal power plant, working, layout,
different components of thermal power plant and their descriptions. After theoretical
sessions the trainees were given practical knowledge about the same. During the practical
sessions, trainees were shown how different components of the thermal power plant are
linked and work in synchronism with each other so that power is generated continuously
and without any interruption.
In this report the basic principle of the operations of thermal power plant, how a power
plant works, how different components of the power plant are selected, planned and
situated at locations which increases the efficiency of the power plant. Along with all these,
detailed description about these components are also provided so that a general idea about
the working of thermal power plant can be understood easily.
At the end of this report advantages and disadvantages of thermal power plant have also
