In The Pit of Hell:

AUSTRALIA’S WEEK
By : Lealyn H. Lacerna

Starting the year 2020 with flames, news about Australia

fires has spread havoc not only in its capital city, Canberra,
but also on the internet. Dealing with the fires that was caused by lightning strikes
or accidentally by a spark, almost 2,000 houses have been destroyed and at least
25 people and millions of animals have died since September.
In actuality, Australia has been agonizing with a summer of extreme weather
and dire consequences. As thunderstorms and hail have battered eastern sections
of the country, while strong winds produce dust storms.
According to a report published by the Guardian News, over the last seven
days, South-Eastern Australia has experienced a variety of extreme weather
events. As major cities have been blanketed in bushfire smoke, flash-flooding, dust
storms, and golf ball-sized hailstones have wreaked devastation in the Australian
Capital Territory, New South Wales, and Victoria.
With all the drought conditions the country’s still encountering, it is expected to
take its action from climate change as Australia is said to be the world’s third-
largest exporter of fossil and fuels. In which they generate 80 percent of its elec-
tricity with coal and gas.
Regarding this matter, Amanda McKenzie, a climate council, commented that
the drastic desolation of Australian bushfires will surely last to the citizens for some
time.
“I think it will fundamentally change how Australians look at the issue of cli-
mate change but also in the issue of federal government.” McKenzie added.

and infrequent weak explosions that generated ash plumes 500 to 1000 meters tall and
dispersed ash southwest of the main crater.
