PRESIDENTIAL DECREE No. 1912

EXTENDING THE EFFECTIVITY OF BATAS PAMBANSA BLG. 25 BY EIGHT MONTHS UP TO 31 DECEMBER

1984, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

WHEREAS, the effectivity of Batas Pambansa Blg. 25 entitled "AN ACT REGULATING RENTALS OF DWELLING
UNITS OR OF LAND OR WHICH ANOTHER'S DWELLING IS LOCATED AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES" will
expire on April 10, 1984;

WHEREAS, in its consideration of a more definitive state policy on this matter, the Batasang Pambansa was not
able to provide measures which would govern the affected leaseholds upon the expiry of Batas Pambansa Blg. 25;

WHEREAS, it is imperative that an interim measure be provided to govern the affected leaseholds from the
unbridled effects of market forces upon the expiry of Batas Pambansa Blg. 25, pending the formulation of a more
definitive state policy by the Batasang Pambansa.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the authority vested in
me by the Constitution of the Republic of the Philippines, do hereby order and decree as follows:

Section 1. The effectivity of Batas Pambansa Blg. 25, entitled "AN ACT REGULATING RENTALS OF DWELLING
UNITS OR OF LAND ON WHICH ANOTHER DWELLING IS LOCATED AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES" is hereby
extended up to 31 December 1984;

Section 2. The National Economic and Development Authority and the Ministry of Human Settlements shall
undertake further studies on the feasibility of extending or lifting rent control and submit their recommendations to
the Batasang Pambansa not later than September 15, 1984. For the purpose, both agencies are hereby authorized
to solicit all necessary data/information from both public and private institutions.

Section 3. This Decree shall take effect immediately.

Done this 29th day of March, 1984.
