Answer to the Question NO: 01

In the communication process, a medium is a channel or system of communication—the means

by which information (the message) is transmitted between a speaker or writer (the sender) and
an audience (the receiver). The plural form is media, and the term is also known as a channel.
There are many mediums of communication, but mainly we see four types of medium which is
followed by many sub categories. Those are: Written, Verbal, non-verbal and visual.
Verbal:
Verbal communication is the use of language to transfer information through speaking or sign
language. It is one of the most common types, often used during presentations, video conferences
and phone calls, meetings and one-on-one conversations. Verbal communication is important
because it is efficient. It can be helpful to support verbal communication with both nonverbal and
written communication.
Non-Verbal:
Nonverbal communication is the use of body language, gestures and facial expressions to convey
information to others. It can be used both intentionally and unintentionally. For example, you
might smile unintentionally when you hear a pleasing or enjoyable idea or piece of information.
Nonverbal communication is helpful when trying to understand others’ thoughts and feelings.
Written:
Written communication is the act of writing, typing or printing symbols like letters and numbers
to convey information. It is helpful because it provides a record of information for reference.
Writing is commonly used to share information through books, pamphlets, blogs, letters, memos
and more. Emails and chats are a common form of written communication in the workplace.
Visual:
Visual communication is the act of using photographs, art, drawings, sketches, charts and graphs
to convey information. Visuals are often used as an aid during presentations to provide helpful
context alongside written and/or verbal communication. Because people have different learning
styles, visual communication might be more helpful for some to consume ideas and information.
In the case mentioned in the question we see that the class representative used written form of
the medium to communicate with others. He used social media for his communication channel.
But his initiatives lacks afford and guidance. As he put written massage on social media forum,
many of the receivers were not present at the platform. So the massage did not reached the
destination affectively.
If I were the class representative I would do it in a different way so that every student get the
massage and attend the class. I would have first collect the contact numbers from all the students
as soon as I became CR. Then I would have select verbal as me medium of the communication. I
would have called them on their cell phones to deliver the massage. Through this they all would
have receive my massage and they would have participated in the online class in a large number.
So If I were CR my medium would be verbal and channel would be cell phone to deliver the
massage.
So you can see that CR had choose the wrong medium and for which the massage got interrupt.
So we can say that by choosing wrong medium massage of the communication can be
interrupt.
