Preface

The issue of Child work stays a boundless, wonder all through the world. For enormous number of kids’
work is a difficulty, a wellspring of anguish and misuse, furthermore, a principal maltreatment of human
rights. Frequently, kid work brings about instructive hardship, social hindrance and unexpected weakness
and physical turn of events.
Youngster work is as yet regular in certain pieces of the world, it very well may be production line work,
mining, prostitution, quarrying, horticulture, helping in the guardians' business, having one's own private
venture (for instance selling food), or doing random temp jobs. A few kids fill in as aides for visitors,
once in a while joined with acquiring business for shops and cafés (where they may likewise function as
servers). Other kids are compelled to do dreary and dull employments, for example, gathering boxes,
cleaning shoes, loading a store's items, or cleaning. Nonetheless, instead of in processing plants and
sweatshops, most kid work happens in the casual part, "selling numerous things in the city, at work in
horticulture or concealed away in houses—a long way from the scope of legitimate work controllers and
from media examination." And all the work that they did was done in a wide range of climate; and was
additionally accomplished for negligible compensation. For whatever length of time that there is family
neediness there will be kid work.
In the current investigation, we concentrated on the job of broad communications in making mindfulness
and spurring individuals against youngster work. In this computerized period media shapes all aspects of
human life. As of late individuals are utilizing media to create social cognizance and to develop idealistic
changes in society. This look into study will be useful to accomplish the expected objectives of youngster
privileges of and to take full favorable circumstances from the speculation for broad communications
crusade to rouse and mindful individuals. In this advanced period media impacts all aspects of human life.
As of late individuals are utilizing media to make social mindfulness and rolling out positive
improvements in the public eye. Numerous media crusade are presently being utilized to advance
mindfulness among open. Broad communications crusades increment attention to the issue of physical
action. Similarly, media are additionally used to set up kid directly in the public eye. Perhaps the best case
of fruitful media program which had incredible impact in south-east Asian nations to guarantee kid right
and sexual orientation uniformity is 'Meena Cartoon'. This imaginative utilization of media had
extraordinary effect on society and strategy producers to consider the sex segregation and infringement of
kid rights in south-east nations. Presently in India internet- based life battles have assumed a colossal
position with regards to spreading awareness about a thing and that is the reason we have showed this
drive.

CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
Youngsters are the best blessing to mankind and Childhood is a significant and susceptible phase
of human improvement as it holds the possibility to the future improvement of any general
public. Kids who are raised in a condition, which is helpful for their scholarly person, physical
and social wellbeing, grow up to be capable and beneficial citizenry. Each country joins its
future with the current status of its youngsters. By performing work when they are unreasonably
youthful for the errand, youngsters unduly decrease their current government assistance or their
future salary acquiring abilities, either by contracting their future outer decision sets or by
decreasing their own future individual gainful abilities. Under outrageous financial pain, kids are
compelled to forego instructive openings and take up occupations which are for the most part
exploitative as they are generally come up short on and occupied with perilous conditions.
Guardians choose to send their youngster for taking part in a vocation as a frantic measure
because of poor financial conditions. It is along these lines no big surprise that the poor family
units transcendently send their youngsters to work in early times of their life. One of the
unsettling parts of youngster work is that kids are sent to work to the detriment of training. There
is a solid impact of kid work on school participation rates furthermore, the length of a kid's work
day is adversely connected with their ability to go to class. Kid work limits the privilege of kids
to get to also, advantage from training and denies the central chance to join in school. Kid work,
along these lines, partialities kids' instruction and antagonistically influences their wellbeing and
security.
child work is a consuming issue everywhere throughout the world, both in created and creating
nations. In spite of the fact that few endeavors were made and are being made to
destroy/alleviate kid work at national what's more, worldwide levels, yet, the greatness has been
expanding at an disturbing rate. Interest of kids in work is certifiably not another idea specific to
this age. It has existed in various structures in each general public all through the mankind's
history. Mendelievich has properly watched: To a more noteworthy or lesser degree, youngsters
in each kind of human society have consistently partaken, and still participate, in those financial
exercises which are important, if the gathering to which they have a place is with endure. n this
starting part, in the coming hardly any passages, a reference is, be that as it may, made about the
conditions which prompts these causes and how n what steps and measures we could do to stop
such things.

Chapter 3: Causes of Child Labour

The causes are very like some other nation, however with numerous Indian singularities.
Everybody concurs that child work is a plague however most families realize they don't have a
lot of decision: not giving a kid something to do implies there won't be sufficient food on the
table for everybody.
Schools likewise will in general instruct things that aren't in every case exceptionally helpful to
kids once they get back home, let alone to get a low-talented line of work. In that sense, they
don't give a lot of support to guardians to give their children training in the event that they don't
see prompt advantages. There isn't as much as possible find in East Asian nations for instance
and that is on the grounds that schools have never truly been a method for social rising. The
standing framework totally forestalled that for a considerable length of time. Be that as it may,
things are gradually changing as the administration is attempting to improve the nature of
schools just as making their program increasingly down to earth and pertinent to youngsters'
lives. Another difficult remains: guardians aren't making a sufficient living to continue their
family. That is straightforward neediness causing and energizing kid work in India. Be it in
assembling or in horticulture, individuals are efficiently come up short on.
The scourge of neediness: The fundamental purpose behind youngster work in India is
destitution. The greater part of the nation's populace experiences neediness. Because of
neediness, guardians can't bear the cost of the investigations of their youngsters and cause them
to win their wages from a youthful age. Truth be told, they are very much aware of the
melancholy of losing their friends and family to neediness commonly. They send their little
youngsters to work in plants, homes, and shops. They are made to work to build the pay of their
poor families at the most punctual. These choices are taken uniquely for the reason for squeezing
out a living for their family. Be that as it may, such choices break kids' physical and mental state
as they lose their adolescence at an early age.
Absence of instructive assets: Even following 72 years of our nation's freedom, there are
occasions where youngsters are denied of their major right to training. There are a great many
towns in our nation where there are no legitimate offices for training. What's more, if there is
any, it is miles away. Such authoritative laxity is likewise liable for kid work in India. The most
noticeably awful victims are the poor families for whom getting their youngsters instructed is a
fantasy. Here and there the absence of moderate school for the instruction of poor kids leaves
them unskilled and powerless. Kids are compelled to live without considering. What's more,
some of the time such impulses drive them into the snare of youngster work in India.

9|Lovely Professional Univ ersity

Social and monetary backwardness: Social and financial backwardness is additionally the
primary purpose behind kid work in India. Socially in reverse guardians don't send their kids to
get training. Thusly, their youngsters are caught in kid work. Because of absence of education,
ordinarily guardians don't know about different data and plans for kid training. Absence of
training, ignorance and therefore the absence of attention to their privileges among them have
energized youngster work. Likewise, uneducated guardians don't think about the effect of kid
work on their youngsters. The states of neediness and joblessness give provincial families a
urgent reason for connecting with youngsters in different errands. Indeed, medieval, zamindari
framework and its current leftovers keep on propagating the issue of youngster work in India.
Compulsion, malady or handicap: In numerous families, because of liquor habit, illness or
inability, there is no acquiring, and the youngster's wages are the sole methods for family's food.
Populace development is likewise expanding joblessness, which adverse effects youngster work
avoidance. In this way, guardians, rather than sending their youngsters to class, are happy to send
them to work to expand family pay.
The lure of cheap labour: In the greed of cheap labour, some shopkeepers, companies and
factory owners employ children so that they have to pay less to them and it amounts to
employing cheap labour. Shopkeepers and small businessmen make children work as much as
they do to the elder ones but pay half the wages. In the case of child labour, there is less
chance for theft, greed or misappropriation of money too. With the development of
globalization, privatization, and consumerist culture, the need for cheap labour and its
linkage with the economic needs of poor families have encouraged child labour in India.
Family tradition: It is a shocking but bitter truth that in our society it is very easy to give
child labour the name of tradition or custom in many families. The cultural and traditional
family values play their role in increasing the problem of child labour in India at the
voluntary level. Many families believe that a good life is not their destiny, and the age-old
tradition of labour is the only source of their earning and livelihood.
Separation among young men and young ladies: We have been molded into accepting that
young ladies are more fragile and there is no equivalent correlation among young men and young
ladies. Indeed, even today, in our general public, we will discover numerous models where
young ladies are denied of studies. Considering young ladies more fragile than young men denies
them of school and instruction. In worker families, young ladies are seen as occupied with work
alongside their folks.

Chapter 4: Consequences of Child Labour
Child labor is one of the serious issue in terms of economic welfare. Children fails to get
necessary education in their childhood. They lack in the opportunity to develop physically,
intellectually, emotionally and psychologically.
Malnutrition : Children who work for more and those who are not ready for monotous work
become more exhausted and gets malnutrionised and loses their immunity to diseases.
Physical injuries: Children who tends to work in hazardous environment are even worse. They
do not posses the proper safety measures and lack knowledge in safety environment. They might
result in physical injuries and sometimes leads to death too.
Children lack proper education.
Without proper education, their talents and skills gets wasted and results in wasted human
resources.
As a result there is an increase in the future Unemployment.
Increase in child labor decreases India’s per capita income. The hazardous conditions lowers
India’s welfare level.
According to International Labor Organisation (ILO),there are tremendous economic benefits for
developing nations by sending children to school instead of work. Without education, children
do not gain necessary skills

Chapter 5: Methodology adopted for study

IDENTIFICATION AND SELECTION OF TARGET AUDIENCE:

Target audience is defined by the people are most likely to understand and engage with our
campaign and are also united by some common characteristics like demographics, behavior etc.
These common characteristics are important in order to have a uniform reaction towards the
campaign with least negative deviations and achieving best possible conversion rates.
The campaign is completely concentrated towards promoting the cause of child labor, it is
required to be understood by each and every section of the society regardless of any of the
factors that divides the society into various sections and sub sections.
The success of the online campaign on child labor is directly proportional to the span of reach of
the campaign to the people, hence we do not have a specific target audience. The targeting of the
customers would have been more precise in case of a campaign for a service or a product.
Our philosophy for targeting is based on the fact that “We cannot target everyone, but we can
potentially reach everyone”.
However, some data points are still considered:
Age of the primary audience: Knowing which decade of life our audience are in can be quite
useful. This audience is the source of potential secondary audience for the campaign which is
based on the frequency of sharing of posts by the primary audience.
In case of our campaign, we have tried to focus more upon Generation Z for the frequent
propagation of our online campaign.

12 | L o v e l y P r o f e s s i o n a l U n i v e r s i t y
Stage of life: Our campaign has reached mostly to students who are pursuing any kind of course
or study from a college/university. Moreover, the students are more likely to understand the
issues and contribute to it.

IDENTIFYING A SUITABLE PLATFORM FOR OUR ONLINE CAMPAIGN:

Campaigning and advertising on Facebook is an essential way to expand our reach on the social
media platform. In addition, Facebook plays an important role in overall digital marketing by
increasing awareness by the campaigns and bringing in the more audience. Hence, some of the
reasons being identified by us for selecting Facebook as a platform for our campaign are:
 Public relations with existing and potential audience
Facebook can be used to talk to the existing as well as potential audience for a promotional
campaign. On Facebook, we have only shared the information related to our chosen topic and
have remained highly focused on it which helps to build credibility and relationships with the
users.
 People spend most of their time on Facebook
80 percent of all the internet users use Facebook, even 65% of the adults above the age of 65 use
Facebook. It has billions of users and most of them check their page multiple times per day.
Therefore, one of the most important benefits of campaigning through Facebook is that your
targeted segment uses it daily.

13 | L o v e l y P r o f e s s i o n a l U n i v e r s i t y
 Cheapest form of advertising
Campaigning and advertising through Facebook is quite cheap method to perform. We can spend
Rs.300 (approx.) and reach 1,000 in no time.

 Campaigning through Facebook is measurable

There is no guessing with Facebook campaigning and advertising. The results are measurable
and numbers speak for itself. We are easily able to see how many impressions, clicks and
conversions we are receiving at different points of time.
 Facebook helps in building and enhancing engagement
Facebook campaigning builds engagement with the target audience. Engagement consists of
likes, comments, shares and other interactions over the posts. Engagement is important because it
signifies a stronger connection with the target audience for the campaign. As people engage with
the campaign, an indirect connection is being developed.
 Real- time advertising with Facebook
With Facebook advertising, we can look at our campaign in real- time. If we are unhappy with
the results, we can make adjustments to our campaign immediately. This is not possible with the
other forms of the advertising. If we invest in other forms of campaigning such as radio ads,
television ads etc., we are unable to change it immediately.
Facebook advertising (if paid, in our case it is not) can help to cut losses immediately and make
adjustments to gain more audience over the page.

14 | L o v e l y P r o f e s s i o n a l U n i v e r s i t y
 Facebook let us to spread the word to friends of friends
When our target audience see the Facebook posts, their Facebook friends see them too, which in
turn multiplies the effectiveness of the efforts made in promoting a campaign.

CONTENT OF THE FACEBOOK CAMPAIGN:

In order to enhance the success of our Facebook campaign, we have tried to constantly put a mix
of all types of content related to the problem of child labor. This is being done in order to
completely achieve the objective of creating awareness about the child labor within our society.
Different types of segments relating to the posts on the Facebook campaign include:
 Facts describing the current state of child labor in India

Using facts and figures in a post can be a powerful tool. It provides a quantitative, objective and
persuasive platform on which to base an argument, prove a claim or support an idea. It a highly
logical way to demonstrate an idea to the target audience.
Using reputed sources of information such as government websites, academic institutions,
reputed research organizations think tanks etc. adds credibility to the posts of the campaign.
 Posts depicting the cause and effect
It is important for the targeted audience to understand the cause of problem being propagated
through the campaign. With this they are able to identify the event that is responsible that is
responsible for the cause that resulted in an effect.

15 | L o v e l y P r o f e s s i o n a l U n i v e r s i t y
With such posts audience are able to analyze themselves socially and become more willing to
accept the consequences for their actions.
Introducing various keywords and phrases in the posts triggers the mentality of the audience and
helps them to focus and alter their way of thinking being developed towards the problem.
Hence a statement of cause and effect focuses on the significance, importance, relevance or
values of the consequences that happened. Keeping this in mind, some of our posts for the
campaign were also related to depict the cause and effect. An example if such a post is attached
below.

 Posts with laws and regulations regarding child labor

Many children in our society are “hidden workers” who work in homes or in the underground
economy. Child labor in India is also prevalent in the informal sectors of the Indian economy.
This all has resulted in making a negative impact on the physiological and psychological levels
of children which has increased the concerns of the consequences on their mental health.
Surprisingly, a major part of the Indian society remains unaware about these happenings, hence it
becomes quite important to create awareness regarding the protection laws of the children
employed as labor along with implementing a general awareness plan.
Having an understanding and overview of the laws concerning the child labor will help the target
audience to identify the possible implementation of these laws wherever necessary and will boost
up their confidence to handle adverse circumstances (act of employing child labor) and fearlessly
raise their voice against it.

16 | L o v e l y P r o f e s s i o n a l U n i v e r s i t y
In a nutshell, it is important to be aware about the remedy along with the disease and with this
concept in mind we have numerous posts related to the laws and regulations for child labor on
our page

 Emotional connect with the audience

Having an emotional connect with the audience makes them more curious, participative and
involved with the content. With this they feel themselves as the part of the campaign and
consistently stay connected.
This also involves storytelling and real life anecdotes that our audience might feel like
relating to.
Here, our campaign is absolutely not related to a product or service that is to be sold, hence the
possibility of not having an emotional connect with the audience due to “rational reasons” is
completely eliminated at the very first phase of the campaign.
Use of emojis also play an important while making a post. We all understand that actions speak
louder than the words. A person may feel much more connected to a post which has related and
suitable pictures, emojis etc.

17 | L o v e l y P r o f e s s i o n a l U n i v e r s i t y
Researches have proved that the use of emojis in any communication makes people so
irresistible. Emojis have the power even to change the mood of the reader. Talking to a person
directly is easy for us but it becomes challenging when we are trying to make a conversation
with a person via internet. Hence emojis have been an integral part of our posts for the campaign
on Facebook. A similar post is attached below.

POSTING SCHEDULE:
With the creation of the page, we decided to make a post at uniform intervals with the view to
bind our audience continuously with our posts on the page. Each group member approximately
made a post on every second day.
The content of the posts was also changed for every post to make the content interesting. The
posts made were also shared with the audience over the whatsapp and other social media
platforms in order to maximize the reach of the page.
The graph attached below depicts the number of likes for our page. It can clearly be assessed
from the graph that our page has continuously received increasing number of followers.

18 | L o v e l y P r o f e s s i o n a l U n i v e r s i t y
The logic for posting the content can also be substantiated with a graph that shows the reach of
our posts to our audience

On an average we were able to achieve a reach of 100 people throughout the duration of the
campaign.
