LED displays
Table 4-1 shows an overview of the LEDs on the various CPUs.
Chapter 4.2 and 4.3 deals with the errors and states indicated by these LEDs.
LED Meaning
RUN STOP
H D CPU is in RUN.
D H CPU is in STOP. The user program is not executed. Cold restart/ warm
restart is possible. If the STOP status was triggered by an error, the error
indicator (INTF or EXTF) is also set.
B B CPU status = DEFECT. The INTF, EXTF and FRCE LEDs also flash.
2 Hz 2 Hz
B H STOP status has been triggered by a test function.
0.5 Hz
B H A cold restart / warm restart was initiated. The restart / warm restart may
2 Hz take a minute or longer, depending on the length of the called OB. If the
CPU still does not go into RUN, there might be an error in the system
configuration.
D B Self--test with unbuffered POWER ON is busy. The self--test may take up
2 Hz to 10 minutes.
CPU memory reset is busy
x B The CPU requests a memory reset.
0.5 Hz
B B Debugging mode
0.5 Hz 0.5 Hz
D = LED is dark; H = LED lights up; B = LED flashes with the specified frequency;
x = LED status is irrelevant
LED Meaning
MSTR RACK0 RACK1
H x x CPU controls the switched I/O
x H D CPU on rack number 0
x D H CPU on rack number 1
LED Meaning
INTF EXTF FRCE
H x x An internal error was detected (programming or parameter
assignment error).
x H x An external error was detected, i.e. an error not triggered by the
CPU module.
x x H A force request is busy.
LED Meaning
BUS1F BUS2F
H x An error was found at the MPI/DP interface.
x H An error was found at the PROFIBUS DP interface.
B x DP master: one or more slaves at PROFIBUS DP interface 1
are not responding.
DP slave: not addressed by the DP master
x B DP master: one or more slaves at PROFIBUS DP interface 2
are not responding.
DP slave: not addressed by the DP master
LED Meaning
IFM1F IFM2F
H x An error was found at module interface 1.
x H An error was found at module interface 2.
LED REDF
The LED REDF indicates specific system states and redundancy errors.
Diagnostics Buffer
You can troubleshoot the error by reading out its precise cause from the
diagnostics buffer using STEP 7 (PLC --> Module Information).
