Filming of The Material Is The Shortest Part of The Process
Filming of The Material Is The Shortest Part of The Process
1. Preparation
2. Filming team
- ideal is a team of three - interviewer, cameraman, audio man
- one of the three HAS TO BE the data logger (time, number of the clip...)
4. Shooting schedule
- decide everything ahead
- don’t let anything surprise you
- decide before the filming if we’ll hear the questions or not
(if not, you have to tell the interlocutor to answer in full sentences)
5. Technics
- use whatever you want or have
- think of the quality of picture and sound that will come out
6. Film frame
- 25 fps is the standard of broadcasting in Europe
- most of the mobile phone cameras have default setting in 30 fps
- you can change that in settings or with an application (FilmicPro)
7. Filming
- try to do most of the tasks while filming because it cuts the time in editing
- watch the tone (surroundings, volume input, articulation...)
- fill the batteries
- empty the memory
- have a pen (data logger!!!)
- don’t advertise (streets, drinks, clothes...)
10. Editing
- think of the volume balance
- don’t deceive yourselves, editing takes time
- it takes approximately one hour of editing for one minute of film
- you can use Windows Movie Maker for editing, it’s the simplest program
12. Export
- most suitable extension is .mp4 because it can be played in any program
- don’t export movies in Windows Media Player formats because it can cause
problems in playing or audio and video synchronisation
The best program for playing is VLC - it’s simple and can read most of the formats. It’s free
and you can get it online.
