INDRAPATRA AT SULAYMAN

Objectives
1. Cite the different Philippine Mythical creatures.
2. Demonstrate the understanding of the epic through reciprocal teaching learning.
3. Express their points of view towards the current issues through differentiated tasks

Activity
Preliminary Activity
MOMOLAND
Students will share the monsters they truly fear and explain why. Afterwards, they are presented
with Philippine Mythical creatures.

Unlocking of difficulties
Kill the monsters
Below are weapons you can use in killing the monsters. Choose the right weapon by
matching the right meaning of the difficult words contained in each monster. You will be guided
by the context clues use in each sentences.

The monsters haunt the villagers in every way they can.


The scary monster brought havoc to the people in the
mountain causing them to evacuate to the nearest town.
The warriors fought the monsters with zeal.
The giant bird is the scourge of their land.
The soldier felt exhausted after defeating four monsters.
Analysis
Students will be asked by the following questions as the teacher tells the story:
1. Who are the four monsters who terrorized Mindanao?
2. Which among the four monsters do you think is the most difficult to defeat? Why?
3. What do you think will happen to Sulayman?
4. Why do you think Sulayman easily defeated the first two monsters?
5. Do you think King Indarapata’s decision to take revenge is right? Why? Why not?
6. Who do you think is this old woman? Is she a friend or an enemy? Why do you think so?
7. How did King Indarapata and Sulayman defeat these monsters?
8. How did Sulayman die in the story?
9. Would you also trust the old woman the way Indarapata did? Why and why not?

Abstraction

 Reciprocal Teaching-Learning with a Twist


(3-5 minutes brainstorming; 5-10 minutes presentation)

Directions: For this activity, the class is divided into four (4) groups. One group will act
as the:

Kurita: Summarizer (this group summarizes the excerpt through a five strip-
comic strip)
Tarabusaw: Questioner (they pose questions about the excerpt)
Pah: Clarifier (they clearly answer the questions posed by the questioners)
Dreadful Bird with 7 heads: Predictor (they predict some scenes and/or the
next scenes to happen different from its original story)

Students will be assessed by the rubrics.


Application
YOUR- ISSUES SOUND FAMILIAR
The different real-life monsters are seen through the current issues the Philippines faces until
now. Through different tasks, the students are grouped with the same groupings to illustrate
their perspective in these issues.

Kurita: Make a poster slogan about protecting Scarborough Shoal.


Tarabusaw: Create an advertisement in preventing Novel Corona Virus 2019.
Poverty: Write an eight-line poem about battling with poverty.
Corruption: Dramatize one scenario that demonstrates corruption.
