A) The Economic conidition of the Muslims in Sub Continent


The Sub continent has always been very important for the all the nations of the world for its trade
routes. The Arab traders came here for the purpose of trade and they introduced and preached Islam
here. Later on Sultan Muhammad Ghouri established Islamic rule here.The Muslims ruled over the Sub-
continent for centuries. In the meantime British came here for trade but slowly they captured the whole
sub-continent.

In 1857, Muslims fought the War of Independence against the British but failed. After the war Muslims
were oppressed very badly by the British and became the target of their wrath.

ECONOMIC CONDITION OF SUB CONTINENT:


The Economic condition of the sub continent was good. It was famous for its important trade routes
through sea. So the French, the portuguese and the British came here for trade purpose.It seemed to
them a big market for their products, and also they got a lot of raw material, man power from the sub-
continent. Finally the British settled here and established their rule

ARAB TRADERS AND INVADERS:


. The Arab traders came here for the purpose of trade and they introduced and preached Islam here.
Their business dealings was in accordance to Islam and their daily life was according to Qurran and
Sunnah. Muhammad Bin Qasim invaded the sub-continent and defeated Raja Dahir later on Sultan
Muhammad Ghouri established Islamic rule here.The Muslims ruled over the Sub-continent for
centuries.

ARRIVAL OF BRITISH:
The British came here for trade purpose. They began to set their feet more firmiliy by fortifying trade
centers gradully they established their colonies. From there the period of slavery of the Muslims began

WAR OF FREEDOM:
After complete decline of the Muslim rulein the sub-continent, the Muslims fought the war of
independence. The Muslims were supported by Hindus in this war but they lost this war due to lack of
sources, unity and leadership. The Hindus declared the Muslims responsible for this and acquitted
themselves of any responsibility. So only the Muslims had to face the wrath of British

PREJUDICE ENIMITY OF THE BRITISH:


Hindus blamed only the Muslimsof the revolt and the British became the enemies of the Muslims. They
inflicted serious loss to the Muslimsand deprived them of every kind of opportunity. They deprived them
from jobs, properties and business etc. They didn't lose any chance of causing harm to the Muslim
community

SAYING OF SIRSYED AHMED KHAN:


The economic and social condition of the Muslims became worst. SirSyed Ahmed Khan depicted the
condition of the Muslims in these words

" No calamity has decscended from the Heaven that has not searched the house of the
Muslims before it came down to the earth".

DEPRIVATIONS OF THE MUSLIMS FROM JOBS:


The Muslims were dismissed from every kind of government jobs. The doors of the Muslims were closed
for the Muslims. Despite having the required qualification, the Muslims were not given the jobs. On
other hand, the Hindus were appointed on jobs even if they didnot have required qualification. It caused
a serious damage to the employment of Muslims.

DEPRIVATION OF PROPERTIES:
The British did their best to inflicts every kind of serious harm to Muslims and the Hindus were with
them to get the benefit. The Muslims were also deprived of their propeties. Their properties were
confiscated. They were turned out of their lands and their lands were alloted to Hindus. The Muslims
landlords were turned into the tenants of their own properties.

DEPRIVATION FROM BUSINESS:


The British not only deprived Muslims from their jobs or properties, but also ruined the business of the
Muslims. They gave special priviliges to the Hidus for getting their support but made strict laws for
Muslims. So the Muslim traders suffered severe economic losses, whereas the Hindu traders established
their monopoly in trade.

INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION IN BRITAIN:


Industrial revolution in Britain also played a vital role in the destruction of the Muslims economically. The
British products were good in qualityand cheaper than local products. Domestic cottage industry could
not compete with the modern technology and inustry. So it collapsed and the Muslims engaged with
this, suffered damage

Also that the British products were imported to India but the Indian products were neither demanded in
India or abroad. It also affected the employment of millions of Muslims also.

RECAPITULATION:
To recapitulate that we can say that after the War of Independence, the Hidus stood with the British and
only the Muslims became the victim of the wrath of British. The British inflicted every possible damage
to the Muslims. They oppressed them in each and every field. The condition of the Muslims became
worst and they were smashed up in the state of revenge. It was the most tough time for the Muslims in
the Sub-Continent.
B) ORIGIN OF IDEOLOGY AND ITS SIGNIFICANCES:
IDEOLOGY:
The Urdu word "Nazaria" is known as "ideology" in English. Ideology means such a plan or programme as
is based upon philosophy and application to solve political, social and cultural issues and problems

WORLD ENCYCLOPEDIA:
"Ideology is the set of political and cultural principles on which a nation or
civilization is based".

GEORGE BRASS AND IDEOLOGY:


" Any plan or programme of common life based upon thinking and philosophy

is called ideology".

ORIGIN AND SOURCES OF IDEOLOGY:


Ideology plays a vital role in the life of every nation.Following are the elements which leads to th e
formation of an ideology among people.

COMMON RELIGION:

Religon is not only a set of adoration (worships) but it has profound impacts on the whole of

the social life. Every religon maintains social relationships in the light of specific ideas. For example ,the
Eruopeans, the Japanese , the Hindus and the Muslims want to lead their lives according to their
religons.

COMMON RACE :
Common ideas are originated from common race. A common race gives birth to common ideas. It is
quite natural that people belonging to the same race develop the sentiments of sympathy and
brotherhood for eachother. Racism is a strong bond. Which because of commomn ideas, binds the
human beings in blood like relationship.

COMMON LANGUAGE AND RESIDENCY :


Language is the means of conveying the feelings, sentiments and thoughts to others. These help to
form new ideas. Similarity in the ways of living and harmony in ideas depend mostly on the common
territory.

COMMON POLITICAL PURPOSES :


Because of common political purposes and political ideas, most of the nations of the present age try
to archieve political freedom for the survival of their national life so that they may become a strong
nation.

COMMON CUSTOMS :
Common customs have played a vital role in the formation and development of ideas in every age.
Common customs create ideogical harmony with respect to culture and thoughts.

SIGNIFICANCES OF IDEOLOGY:
Ideology is the base of purpose of nation. It determines the goals and objects and directs the nation to a
specific achievement. Ideology is the foundation of a nation and it provides the conciousness of purpose
among nations. The life of a nation revolves around its ideology. Following are few significances of
ideology.

PURPOSE OF LIFE:
The importance of ideology is that it gives conciousness of purpose to the nations. Man has been sent to
this world with some purpose. Purposeless life resembles the life of animals. Humanbeings are superior
because they have specific purposes of life. It ensures the existence of nations and their strength.

CONSCIOUNESS OF PURPOSE:
Another significant aspect of ideology is that it gives consciousness of purpose to the nation. This
consciousness leads the nation towards success. They identify their goals and use their energies for the
achievment of their goals.

FOUNDATION OF MOVEMENT:
Ideology is the foundation of any movemnet. The goals and objectives are fixed by the ideology. Any
political, social, economic or cultural movement meets success due to strong ideology. Without having
strong ideology, no movement can achieve success.

MOTIVATING FORCE :
Ideology is a motivating force that pushes the nation in its right direction. It gives heat and strenght to
the national objects. It gears up the activities and provides energy. This motivating force keeps the nation
moving in the right direction.

DISCIPLINE IN LIFE :
Another salient feature of the significance of ideology is that it provides discipline to the all aspects of
the life of an individual and nation. All the activities of a nation revovle round specific goal. The
individuals use their energies in the right direction to archieve the objectives of their ideology.

DETERMINATION OF DUTIES :
Ideology determines the of individuals and of the nation as whole. It tells them the purpose of their
existence and directs them to archievements of national goals. Hence, it provides proper guidelines and
creates discipline in life that ultimately directs the nation to success.

LIFE OF NATION :
Ideology is invisible; it cannot be seen but can be felt only. The whole nation looks live and dynamic due
to its ideology. Ideology is the real life of a nation. It directs the nation to its real national objectives,
motivates and guides it to the archievements of national goals.
SOURCE OF IDENTITY :
Ideology is a source of identitiy of a nation. A nation looks live and dynamic because of its ideology. It
looks a different nation when it works on its ideology for the archievement of specific objectives. All the
great nations are recognized on their basis of ideology. They have gained strengths following their
specific ideology.

RECAPITULATION :
To recapitulate we can say that ideology is the base of the purpose of a nation. It is the motivating force
and becomes the foundation of any movement. It creates discipline and determinates the duties of
