Company Profile

Vision and Mission Statements

Mission

LEIAAI aims to train students in the field of aviation with utmost

professionalism; highest standards of technical expertise; continuing commitment

to safety; and guaranteed customer satisfaction.

Vision

LEIAAI envision themselves to be the most sought after aviation school

and provider of committed, dedicated, professional, competent, and skilled

individuals in the field of aviation in the Asia Pacific region by year 2020.

Goals

The company’s primary goal is to achieve and deliver quality-based

standard of aviation training that will stimulate the growth of the aviation industry

and the country’s economy in the years to come.

Steadfast in purpose and principle, the secondary goal is to deliver

distinguishing attributes of the institution’s founders by constantly improving the

services offered.

History

Leading Edge International Aviation Academy, Inc. (LEIAAI) was

established by 5 Philippine Air Force Flying School alumni in 2007; Major

General Gilbert S. Llanto AFP (Ret), Major General Rolando F. Capacia AFP

(Ret), Colonel Gonzalo A. Capili PAF (Ret), and Captain Jacob Sacro. These

men, with their passion for flying and years of vast experience, collaborated to

create LEIAAI and pursue their dream of an aviation school that will produce

world-class pilots. (https://www.leadingedge.com.ph) Leading Edge International

Aviation Academy, Inc. (LEIAAI) is a subsidiary of ACDI Multipurpose

Cooperative which stands among the best flying schools in the Philippines today.

On December 4, 2007, LEIAAI was registered with the Securities and

Exchange Commission.

On February 18, 2008, LEIAAI was granted permission to operate at Poro

Point Freeport Zone.

On May 15, 2008, LEIAAI acquired 2 Cessna 172 Trainer Aircraft.

On June 18, 2008, the 2 aircraft were blessed, inaugurated and launched

on their first flight.

On August 6, 2008, LEIAAI was granted an Approved Training

Organization (ATO) Certificate by CAAP to operate as an approved pilot school.

2008, LEIAAI was accredited by the Department of Foreign Affairs and the

Bureau of Immigration to accept foreign students.

On July 8, 2010, LEAAI was granted an Approved Maintenance

Organization (AMO) certificate by CAAP to operate its own maintenance Facility

and service other flying school and aircraft owners.

On January 17, 2013, LEIAAI was authorized by CAAP to operate at

Plaridel Airport as additional training area.

2014, LEIAAI was granted the authority to offer the Aircraft Maintenance

Technician Training Course (AMTTC) because the Board of Directors and

employees worked hard to provide and complete the requirements in order for

them to be able to open and offer the said course.

2016, an airplane of LEIAAI crashed accidentally along the coastline of

Santiago, Ilocos Sur where two passengers died. Since that event happened, the

operation of LEIAAI stopped for a while and because of that, there is no revenue

for the company.

Organizational Structure

An interview was conducted by the researchers to identify the employees’

designated works and responsibilities.

Appendix A shows the job designation of the employees.

TheBoard of Directors of LEIAAI, MGEN Jovito P. Gammad AFP (Ret),

MGEN Salvador Collantes Jr. AFP (Ret), BGEN Edgardo C. Mendoza AFP (Ret),

MGEN Artemio G. Orozco AFP (Ret), and COL. Manuel M. Tronco Jr. AFP

(Ret)are responsible in establishing policies for corporate management and

oversight, making decisions on major company issues. They essentially hire the

CEO or General Manager of the business and assess the overall direction and

strategy of the business.

The President, COL. Manuel M. Tronco AFP (Ret), is responsible for

providing strategic leadership for the company by working with the Board and

other management to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans and policies.

He also plans, develops, organizes, implements, directs and evaluates the

organization’s fiscal functions and performance.

The Vice President Admin, Ma. Cristina G. Tadeo,is responsible for

directing all of the administrative functions of the corporate in accordance with the

industry standards, where applicable, regulatory agencies, as appropriate and

company objectives and policies.

The Head of Accounting, Janice P. Bautista,is responsible for the daily

aspects of the company’s accounting and reporting functions and she reports

directly to the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) who takes responsibility over the

entire financial department.

The Building & Facilities Admin, Mary Jean D. Hipol, is responsible for the

part of the workplace management team that directly manages the facilities. She

is also responsible in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the physical

buildings, managing subcontractors, budgets, as well as negotiating leases and

overseeing construction projects.

The Human Resource, Georeshiel V. Ballano,is responsible in planning,

directing, and coordinating the administrative functions of the organization. She is

also responsible in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training new staffs.

The Administrator, Shierly R. Aquino, is responsible for supporting their

organization in a variety of ways including bookkeeping, communications,

scheduling, data entry, secretarial services, and others.

The Head of Training, Arnel F. Borres, is responsible in training methods

to specialists. He also oversees staff and plan, direct, and coordinate programs to

enhance the knowledge and skills of an organization’s employees.

The person in-charge of the Information Communications Technology

(ICT), Carlo Mesajon, helps employees and managers have information at the

fingertips via business letters, reports and memos, or sales figure spread sheets

or customer databases. He also maintains business records and helps keep

updated records of employees, competitors, and customers.

The Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO), headed by Cipriano B.

Estacio and Pablo V. Manuel, is responsible in performing maintenance,

preventive maintenance, or alternations on an aircraft, airframe, aircraft engine,

propeller, appliance, component, or part thereof only for which it is rated and

within the terms, conditions, and authorizations placed in its operations

specifications.

The Marketing Head, Carissa C. Capacia, is responsible for strategizing

and implementing the organization’s marketing campaigns. She is also

responsible in analysing the target audience before they proceed with product

promotion.

LEIAAI provided an organizational chart to the researcher which will be

shown in Figure 2.

Profile of Executives

Col. Manuel M. Tronco Jr. PAF (Ret), a Roman Catholic, also known as

“Jojo”, is the current President of LEIAAI. He was born on February 13, 1951 in

La Paz, Iloilo City. He has 4 children with his wife named Victoria Tronco. He

finished Masters in management at the Philippine Christian University in Manila

(2001-2002). He also finished Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering at

Feati University in Manila. He has experienced solid military service for 32 years

(November 30, 1974 to February 12, 2007). He had the privilege to acquire

military ratings such as: PAF Gold Wings, Command Pilot rating, Captain F-28

Aircraft, Captain, Instructor, Flight Examiner, and Test Pilot c-130/L-382 Aircraft,

and Flight Examiner N-22B Nomad Aircraft, Instructor Pilot and Flight Examiner

SF-260, and Instructor pilot and Flight Examiner T-41D Aircraft.

Remy B. Braza the Maintenance Supervisor of LEIAAI. He was born on

February 21, 1953 in Palaciawan, Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo City. They currently stay

at BLK 199 LOT-2 ZONE 8-AFP Housing Bulihan, Silang Cavite. He is married to

Mrs. Cynthia M. Braza, together they have one child. He finished his elementary

at Palaciawan, Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo City and finished his secondary at Barotac

Nuevo, General Comprehensive High School Iloilo, he then finally graduated at

Central Radio and Electronic School, Valencia St., Iloilo City. He also attend

Basic Military Training and serve 30 years in the Military.

George E. Villanueva the Quality Control of LEIAAI. He was born on

January 10, 1954 at Capas, Agoo La Union. He is married to Mrs. Ester A.

Villanueva and they have five children’s together. He finished his Elementary at

Capas Elementary School in Agoo La Union and Congress College for his

secondary and finally graduated at PMI College Quezon City. He attended Basic

Military Training and Aircraft Tech Training. He serves 27 years in PAF and

Aircraft Tech.

Estacio B. Cipriano the Maintenance Manager of LEIAAI. He was born on

February 15, 1953 at Agoo, La Union. He is married to Mrs. Rosemarie J.

Cipriano and they have three children’s together, they are currently staying at

Brgy. Anduyan, Tubao La Union. He finished his Elementary at Anduyan

Community School and finished his secondary at Congress College at Agoo, La

Union. He then finally graduated at Philippine State College of Aeronautics in

Pasay. He attended trainings of BAFOC, SOC, GSC, AMO SOOC and QCIC, he

served 34 years in the military service.

Pablo V. Manuel the Quality Manager-AMO of LEIAAI. He was born on

August 17, 1936 at Lingayen Pangasinan. He is married with Mrs. Dolores R.

Manuel, they have 4 children and they are all staying at R2-L6 Woodpecker St.

Capitol Hills Subd. TMC Cavite. He finished his elementary at Estanza

Elementary School at Lingayen, Pangasinan and finished his secondary at

Adelphi College Lingayen, Pangasinan.

Organizational Culture

Organizational culture concerns the social and behavioural manifestation

of a whole set of values which are shared by members of the organization and

can be defined as “some under lying structure of meaning that persists overtime

constraining people’s perception, interpretation and behaviour (Harley et. al,

2002).

The Leading Edge International Aviation Academy, Inc. (LEIAAI) is known

to be the only aviation school operating around La Union. The employees of the

company share a set of core values. They believe that the ability to lead by deed

and example makes all the difference. The foster the ability to think and act in

creative ways during difficult situations and comes to the fore when crisis arise.

They believe in the moral uprightness of a person requires strict adherence to

establish ethical standards of honesty. They promote that individuals should

exhibit a high level of excellence and competence in his/her chosen endeavour.

They advocate that an individual should display commitment, fidelity, and

devotion to his task or purpose at all times.

The researchers saw their dedication in every aspects of their work, from

the flying school to AMT and to their faculty and staff. You can see their

professionalism on how they greet everyone regardless of the position of the

person they are greeting and they also greet their visitors. With these attributes,

traits or values, the chances of acquiring more students to enrol at LEIAAI will

increase.
