Alternatives for fighting dishonesty

“Man is naturally Good. Its society that corrupts him.” this quote, expressed by Jean-Jacques
Rousseau, allows us to approach to a perspective where men is not bad by default, and therefore dishonesty
is not something inherent to all human beings, but it is a choice that they make guided by context and not
conviction. This being said, dishonesty is an attitude that can be reconsidered and changed in all human .
Taking into account the current situation of dishonesty in educational institutions, as is the case of the San
Pedro school where acts of corruption are occurring, as is theft, this dishonest act has been one of the main
problems of SPC , where students have not taken into account the values and ideals taught when it comes
to finding or obtaining foreign money, thus generating an impact on the community, for that reason some
partners decided to begin an initiative that is based on makaing people reflect, with information against this
problem and reinforced values through infographics.

According to this First, our campaign is based on reflexive information aimed at grade 8, where it is
going to be exposed and explained respectively, examples and robbery situations in the school will be shown
to raise awareness for each student, then two infographics will be left in each eighth room, showing the
values and reflection on the situation, finally a few days later we will go back to these rooms, delivering a
survey asking how the cases of theft have been improved and to follow up on them and get there with these

In a such way solution for this is to stop giving the opportunity to be dishonest to the students in
process of education and growing , but this is not only impossible but far from being a solution for the real
problem here. Then, the only way of making childrens honest, is teaching them that cheating, stealing and
lying its wrong, not only because while you take advantage of others, you are choosing to act against values
such as justice and respect, but because you are choosing to hurt others. So, basically the answer is in the
teaching. Kids must be taught to acknowledge that there are going to be plenty of opportunities for them to be
dishonest, but there’s only one right way to act, and it it’s by the ethical and moral values. For this, men have
to be taught this kind of values in different ways and places, for example through education, at school and
most importantly at home.

Concluding, to lower dishonesty in society it its necessary for students to understand the importance
of making choices that include ethical values, but above this all, it is required that they are taught the
importance of applying this values no matter what situation they are in, in such a way In the school
environment and society, these values will be reflected in the choices they make no matter how tempting
dishonesty may look to them, because dishonesty will never be the right choice, and students will always
loose something instead: Their ethical character.
