Cards/Games
AMERICAN CHINESE MAH JONG
This group is an on-going group that meets weekly. Game sets of 166 Chinese tiles are used. This style offers a new and exciting game which will stimulate
your mind. Previous instruction required.
BINGO
Join the Baca Center for bingo and a chance to win points. Each participant can choose up to 3 bingo cards for play. During the summer months of June
through August, members can bring a grandchild age 7 and up to participate in bingo for an extra fee of $3. Winners can cash-in their points for grocery/
household items. *Baca members.
BRIDGE
The Baca Center offers various types of bridge games for all abilities. Bridge was derived from the English game of Whist in the 18th Century. Cards originated
in China as far back as the 9th Century. The duplicate and evening bridge are for ADVANCED players that have a partner. The neighbors and fun bridge are for
everyone and you do not need a partner. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to play time. *Advanced players ONLY and MUST have a partner.
BUNCO
This is a fun fast-paced dice game that anyone can learn. Winners receive either a $5 or $10 gift card to Walmart. The games are held on the 1st and 3rd
Tuesday evenings, 6:30-8:30pm. *Baca members.
CANASTA
The Baca Center offers three different types of Canasta for your card-playing enjoyment. Canasta is a rummy-like card game that can usually be learned in a
couple of sessions. Just come and join in. Please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to start time to assure your place at a table. Latecomers may not get to play.
DOMINOES
The Baca Center offers various opportunities to play games of dominoes.
PINOCHLE
This group meets on a weekly basis to play Pinochle which is a trick-taking game that takes lots of concentration. Monday play is open to anyone wishing
to play or learn pinochle while Tuesday is for ADVANCED players only. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to start time to assure your place at a table.
Latecomers may not get to play.
SPADES
This group meets to play Spades and other fun card games. Please arrive 15 minutes early so groups can be formed to play.
ART CLUB
The art club includes artists with interests in all media such as oil, acrylic, pen & ink, watercolor, 3D art and photography. You can find their artwork displayed
throughout the center and many are available for purchase. New artists are always welcome. There is a nominal fee to join the Art Club that you pay directly
to the group. The fee helps pay for monthly demonstrations.
BENEFITS COUNSELING
Benefits Counseling is provided for those in need of information on Medicare, prescription plans, Medicaid and food stamps. This is a one-on-one consultation
with benefits counselor Nancy Kind. This is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
BOOK DISCUSSION
Book Discussions group meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. The group discusses a variety of classic and contemporary essays, short stories, dramas,
and poetry that present ideas of enduring human significance. Contact the Baca Center for more information on the group and what the reading material
will be for each meeting date.
CINEMA MOVIES
Join the Baca Center on the 3rd Wednesday of each month 1:00-3:00pm for a movie (unless noted otherwise). Popcorn and lemonade will be provided. Chil-
dren ages 7 and up are welcome to come during the summer and a family movie will be shown. To see what movie will be playing, check out the current
issue of the Baca Buzz.
DAFFODIL DOLLS
This group is for all ladies that are interested in fun and fellowship. The ladies wear yellow and participate in fun activities. They meet on the 1st Wednesday
of each month.
GARDEN CLUB
The Round Rock Area Garden Club meets the 1st Monday of each month throughout the year unless that Monday is a holiday. After a brief social and business
meeting, the club provides gardening hints, plans field trips, and presents speakers who are knowledgeable about meeting the challenges of gardening in our
particular soil and climate. Membership is free to Baca Center members; others pay $1 walk-in fee. For information, contact club president Teresa Robinson,

WOODCARVERS CLUB
The Woodcarvers Club gets together to practice, learn and create wood carved objects. No experience necessary, however tools are needed to participate.
WRITING CLUB
Participants are welcome to share their writing and get feedback, read someone else’s work or just come to listen. View the club’s anthologies on amazon.
com by searching for Baca Writing Club; another book is always in progress so it is not too late for you to have your work published. For more information,

Crafts
CRAFTY CRITTERS
Crafters meet to sew, knit and make their own items/crafts. Join the group to craft or learn from each other. This group also participates in various craft fairs.
Dance
KUPUNA HULA FOR BEGINNERS
All dancers will meet at 1:45pm for basic instruction, technique, and Hawaiian language and history. Ladies will wear black t-shirts and a wrap or pa’u skirt;
men will wear black shorts or pants and black t-shirt. Dancers who want to continue and to perform will need the class pa’u (purchased through the kumu)
and class t-shirt. Also, dancers should bring three-ring notebooks to class. No new students after the first 2 classes in a session.
LATIN DANCING
This self-led group joins together to learn from each other and to dance, dance, dance.
LET’S DANCE
Have fun, exercise and socialize at the same time! Join your friends on the first Friday of each month for a social dance. Lemonade and coffee will be pro-
vided. Bring your own refreshments, snacks and BYOB. No guests, under age 50. Please register in advance. Join the group for FREE line dance lessons at
6:30pm. Dances with a band cost $5 for members and $10 for non-members. All other dances, moderated by our own DJ, are FREE for members and $5 for
non-members.

COMPUTER SUPPORT
Is your data backed up, your warranty over, want to fix your computer yourself? Join Scott Wheeler for “how to” classes which will cover cleaning up your
Windows operating system, install/uninstall applications/drivers, troubleshoot diagnostics, manage viruses, and more. Bring your laptop to the class. If you
have a PC do a print screen of your issue. MUST register by 5pm the Wednesday prior and if no registrations, instructor will NOT show up. *Baca members.
Fitness
GROUP EXERCISE-BACA
The Baca center believes that a healthy and active lifestyle is for everyone at every age. The Baca center offers classes for their members throughout the day
that are included in the weight room membership fees. Non-members must pay the walk -in fees. Please see the Baca front desk for current group exercise
schedule and class guidelines. Non-members must pay the visitor pass rate of $3/class. Class participation is limited based on space & equipment.

PICKLEBALL
Pickleball is a fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong. It can be played indoors or outdoors and is played with a paddle
and plastic ball with holes. Can be played as doubles or singles.
SITTERCIZE
This workout is designed for individuals who need a less strenuous exercise class. Participants do low-impact chair exercises with hand weights while work-
ing on increasing flexibility, endurance, and strength.
TAI CHI
A Chinese martial art and meditative movement class designed to increase your sense of balance, cardiovascular fitness and joint flexibility. First class is free
and is offered by the Taoist Tai Chi Society at the Baca Center. *Baca members.
Language
CONVERSATIONAL SPANISH
This is an informal, inclusive, and fun group for persons who already know/speak some Spanish and want to improve their conversational and reading skills.
Classes will include grammar, conversation, writing exercises, reading aloud, and more. No textbook required.
Music
KLUB KARAOKE
This program meets every Tuesday for 2 hours. People of all skill levels can sing and receive applause for their efforts. If you are not sure you are ready to
perform in front of an audience, come in and enjoy listening. Songs from the 30’s to 90’s are provided and the group has FUN!!
PERFORMANCE GROUP
Tired of waiting a year between talent shows? The Performance Group rehearsals are going on every Thursday at 1:00pm in the Music Room. If you would like
to sing, dance, play an instrument, tell jokes, read poetry, read an original story, perform a skit, this is your chance. A “show” will take place on the 4th Thursday
of each month. If you are interested in participating, you must sign up at the Baca Center and attend a mandatory rehearsal. For more details, check out the
Baca Buzz. Come to entertain and be entertained. No experience necessary just a desire to perform.

Travel
LOCAL TRIPS – BACA CENTER
Adults age 50+ can travel with the Baca Center throughout Central Texas to see new places, museums, plays, sporting events, movies, concerts and restaurants.

Adaptive Aquatics
Round Rock Parks and Recreation is pleased to offer our Adaptive Aquatics Swim Program designed for special needs swimmers. Utilizing the Clay Madsen Recre-
ation Center Pool, smaller classes in a calmer setting allow the instructors to adapt and focus on the strengths and unique attributes of each swimmer.
The Adaptive Aquatics Swim Program consists of two levels of courses designed to meet a wide range of emotional and developmental abilities and focus on water
education, developing water safety, and swimming skills. All Adaptive Aquatics classes are held at Clay Madsen Recreation Center Pool. Classes meet for 6 sessions.
Camps
ADAPTIVE SPRING BREAK CAMP
Spring into a week of camp with us! Adaptive Youth is for ages 6-12 and Teen is for ages 13-21 with disabilities. The daily adventures will be filled with indoor
and outdoor activities, sports, cooking, arts and crafts, and field trips! Please bring a sack lunch and rest mats. Morning and afternoon snack provided. Youth
Camp Ratio is 1 team member for every 4 campers. Teen Camp Ratio is 1 team member for every 5 campers. Campers must be able to behave and function
within this ratio. Spaces are limited.
Fitness
ALL ABILITIES FITNESS
This is a developing group exercise class for individuals of all abilities. A variety of exercises will be taught including yoga, stretch, balance, strength and
more! The group will follow a main instructor; additional employees will be assisting the group. Parents/Guardians/Caregivers are allowed to assist. Come
in comfortable work out attire and bring water! We can ALL be fit! For ages 13 and up
Social Activities
MONTHLY SOCIAL CONNECTIONS
Each month come a join us for a different activity with our social connections. A variety of activities are planned for you to engage with friends, serve the
community, meet up and socialize!
Special Events
PLAY FOR ALL SPECIAL NEEDS EGG HUNT
Dell Children’s Ascension and Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department invite you to come
out to the Play for All Abilities Park for our 5th annual special needs Easter egg hunt. This is a
family-centered event, focusing on active participation for children with various disabilities or lim-
itations. Hunt for the eggs high and low, Look for the golden eggs for special prizes! Siblings are
welcome to participate in the hunt. Pre-registration for this event is encouraged. There are a limited
number of participants allowed in each hunt, so sign up early to secure your space.

Sports
ADAPTIVE TENNIS LESSONS
This tennis class is a prefect first experience to tennis that’s fun and active! This program uses modified equipment: slower-moving and lower-bouncing balls,
shorter and lighter racquets, and smaller courts. The format make tennis easier and fun, as individuals with special needs improve hand-eye coordination,
agility and balance. Parents/Guardians/Caregivers are allowed to assist. Instructor: Tennis Professional Jack Alsup | For ages 12 and up.
AFTERSCHOOL/PRESCHOOL PROGRAMS

TODDLER TREEHOUSE
PRESCHOOL PROGRAM
The Clay Madsen Recreation Center Toddler Treehouse Preschool Pro-
gram is an annual developmental program that offers children ages 3-5
an opportunity to explore and learn from “A to Z”, “123”, “All about me” and
much more! Activities include hands on crafts, cooking, games, tactile
learning activities and fun field trips. Each Toddler Treehouse participant
must be completely bathroom independent. Morning snack is provided;
each Treehouse participant must bring a sack lunch daily.
Prohibited: Swim wear with exposed zippers, buckles, rivets, or metal ornamentation are not allowed in the water. Athletic shorts worn over underwear is
also not allowed. Thong bikinis and other revealing swim wear and Lifeguard apparel are not allowed in any City of Round Rock public pool facilities. Cov-
er-ups for modesty or sun protection may be worn in addition to proper swim attire.
Aquatics team members reserve the right to have final interpretation of all pool rules.

LIFEGUARD TRAINING
COURSE
This program teaches candidates the knowledge
and skills needed to prevent and respond to
aquatic emergencies. Successful candidates will
receive Lifeguard, CPR/AED for the Professional,
and First Aid certifications valid for 2 years.
Requirements: At least 15 years of age before the
last scheduled class and successfully complete
the in-water skills assessment of:
a. 300 yard continuous swim (crawl and
breast stroke as directed)
b. 20 yard swim to 7-10 foot depth, retrieve

Swim Lessons
2018 SWIMMING LESSONS: LEARN -TO - SWIM WITH US!
We proudly use the American Red Cross Learn-To-Swim Program and are offering classes from Level 1 to Level 5. In addition, we offer Parent & Child Aquatics
(6-36 months), Preschool Aquatics, and courses for Adults. Each participant should come in a swim suit or swim diaper ready to swim. Parents/ guardians are
permitted to observe swim lessons from the pool deck, provided that they do not create a distraction or distract others from learning or observing. Please
note, all children learn and react differently, especially when put into new situations. Some students excel when their parent is out of sight, and some stu-
dents require a parent nearby to feel comfortable. Please gauge how your child interacts in new social/physical activities and inform the instructor of any
pertinent information.
Cancelled Classes & Make-ups: If classes are cancelled, a message will be updated on the Rain Out Hotline (512-671-2898) at least 15 minutes prior to class

ADAPTIVE AQUATICS ( SEE PAGE 14)
PRESCHOOL BEGINNER
! Preschool Beginner is designed to orientate children to the aquatic environment and
NEW help them acquire rudimentary levels of basic aquatic and safety skills. There are no
prerequisites. This class is designed for children who have never had a formal swim
lesson. Children will learn: Pool Rules, blowing bubbles through mouth and nose,
submerge face, front and back float and other American Red Cross swimming tech-
niques with and without assistance. Class ratio is 1:6 | Ages 3-5
To pass this course, student must be able to:
1.) Enter independently into the water using the ramp, steps or side.
2.) Fully submerge head under water & blow bubbles
3.) Float on their back without assistance for 3 seconds.
PRESCHOOL INTERMEDIATE
! Preschool Intermediate will help children gain greater independence in their swimming skills and continue to become more comfortable
NEW in the water. Must be comfortable in the water or have taken preschool beginner. Children will learn: Bobbing, front and back glides, tread
water using arms and leg action, starfish floating and other American Red Cross swimming techniques. With and without assistance. Class
ratio is 1:6 | Ages 3-5
To be able to pass this course, student must be able to:
1.) Glide on their front and back, roll onto back/front and float unassisted for 5 seconds
2.) Swim using arm and leg action without assistance for approximately 10 feet
ADULT BEGINNER
This class is geared towards your individual needs, comfort level or fears by teaching swimming and survival skills. For more advanced swimming skills please

ENVISION IT, ENGINEER IT AND MAKE IT WORK!
The morning camp will be a great opportunity for your child to work in small teams of 3 to 4 to solve real engineering robotics projects. Design, build and
test a EV3 Mindstorms robot. Program to communicate sound, images and go on missions to prospect rough terrains while avoiding obstacles.
In the afternoon, your child will grasp the fundamentals concept and hands-on building of complete robotic systems and the components used as attach to
the robots for the various function. Start with the basic mechanism work. Compound Gear systems, Changing Rotational, Direction Transmitting, Rotational
Power, working with Off Center Rotation, and creating Universal Joints.
If you choose to get the full form function and analytics of robotics engineering experience for your child, you can register for the all-day option. The campers
get a good first-hand initiation on how to use EV3 Computational Thinking & Mindstorms Robotics Technology to analyses real world engineering challenges

Let the magic begin! Voila! Young Magicians will learn to make things disappear, appear from nothing and change into something completely different. Magic
teaches confidence, fine motor skills, and hand eye coordination. Fun and excitement is in every session. All magic props used in the class are the participants
to keep. Each week of Young Magician’s Magic Camp will be different by teaching the magicians new and different magic tricks in each session. The magician

RACQUETBALL CAMP
Learn how to play the fast-paced game of racquetball during this week-long camp! Fundamental strokes, strategy, quick decision making and safety for

COUNSELOR IN TRAINING
During this weekly program, teens will learn to be leaders and future counselors. Each teen participant must be able to commit to the development of their
leadership skills while helping guide, instruct and set up games and activities for the Kapers and Kids or the Rockin’ R Campers! CITs will also take part in
special camp projects, field trips, college visits, community service and more throughout the summer. Each will have a specific focus so CITs can learn what it’s
like to be a counselor and have the skills and experience necessary for future employment! There are two locations for your CIT to choose from: the Kapers
and Kids Camp or the Rockin’ R Camp. Optional field trips and activities may be available for an additional fee; alternative activities will be provided if CITs
choose not to participate. More details will be available at time of registration. CITs need to bring a sack lunch and water bottle every day unless noted on
the field trip schedule.
Payments for Summer Day Camps must be made in full or agree to a monthly payment plan. If utilizing the monthly payment plan, your total amount due

Whether you’re a paintball pro or an amateur, you’re guaranteed to have a day of fun on this adventure trip. Texas Paintball is home to ten of the most unique and

Learn the Olympic sport of archery in this beginner class for ages 8 and up! Xpert Archery will shoot you

Soccer Shots - The Children’s Soccer Experience - is a leader in youth soccer development. Our nationally recognized program offers high energy, fun, and
age-appropriate introduction to the wonderful game of soccer. Our innovative curriculum emphasizes both soccer skills and character development. Our
goal is simple: to leave a lasting, positive impact on every child we coach. Please bring a water bottle—all other equipment will be provided (cleats are not
