FALSE FRIENDS

False friends or false cognates are words that are written

in the same (or similar) way as other words in Spanish

Therefore lend themselves to confusion or

mistranslations, but in reality they have a totally
different meaning.

For example, despite being spelled the same way, the

English word "driver" does not mean in Spanish
"conductor (of a car)", but actually refers to the
"conductor of an orchestra" or the "conductor on buses
in England".
