PMNC MID-YEAR EVENT

SOMBREROS &
SLIPPERS
FRI MULTIPLE VENUES
7PM UNTIL LATE
19
JUNE
WILL YOU BE
A HOST ?

A socially-distanced
hybrid live/online evening
Ok, so usually these event promotions are supposed to be short, concise and to the point, but there are a
few things to explain this year, so stick with us...

This year’s Port Melbourne Netball Club mid-year event will actually be a combination of simultaneous smaller
events. From 1 June households in Victoria are allowed 20 people in a house at one time. We are holding a
hybrid ‘live and online’ event on Friday 19 June in multiple households.

Get together with your friends to create a small group of 10-18 people at your own house - we provide the
food and entertainment.

Date: Friday 19 June
Time: 7pm
Ticket price: $30pp
Purchase at https://pmnc.teamapp.com/events/11291745
NOTE: you CAN book your ticket BEFORE you have finalised whose mini-event / home you are going to.

Your ticket price includes food and musical entertainment for the evening including:
·
A link to pre-recorded ‘live performances’ from some talented netball club and local parents singing great
party tunes to be played on a big screen at your home.
PLUS, at some stage during the evening 2 or 3 of the musical entertainers will turn up on your doorstep to
play a live set of music in your lounge!
Also includes a grazing pack (PMNC will deliver a pack of party snacks to your doorstep before the event).

Attire from the neck up: compulsory sombreros for everyone (to encourage social distancing), facemasks
encouraged (especially artistic or creative ones).
Attire from the neck to the ankles: get dressed up (we haven’t done it in a while!).
Attire from the ankles down: warm socks or slippers (you’ll be taking shoes off at the door for good hygiene).

We are lucky to be a part of a club with such a great

community spirit and we thank you for your support of
the club and your flexibility required for us to put on an
event during these challenging times. We thank you for
opening your homes, thank you for your enthusiasm for
a ‘left-field’ idea like this, and we thank you for wearing
a sombrero that will likely not match your outfit at all.

We ask for everyone’s flexibility and understanding in creating the guest lists for each mini-event. There will be
some people with more than one mini-event to go to, some hosts who want to invite more than 18 people but
cannot, and some members who want to support the club by buying a ticket but are not in touch with anyone
who is hosting a mini-event.

The PMNC committee may need to liaise with hosts to help juggle numbers and guest lists. We know that this
club has a great community of members and families and we thank you for helping us out if required. Given
the unusual situation that we find ourselves in during COVID-19 we need to find new ways of doing things and
this is certainly a new way of holding a fundraising event!

Nitty gritty, other details and answers to FAQs:

For Hosts
The plan is to make it as easy as possible to host a mini-event. We will take care of the food and the music.
Guests will BYO their own drink and glasses etc. We will talk you through everything that you need.

Host homes can hold 20 people MAXIMUM, so that means leaving space for 2 or 3 musicians and it also
includes children, so we suggest sending your kids somewhere else for the evening if possible!

If you are hosting a mini-event and have room for more, please let us know if you wouldn’t mind having a
few more guests. This is not compulsory but if we do have a few smaller groups we would love to combine
them if possible (so that we have fewer locations for the live band to travel to).

Host homes will be provided with hand sanitiser and posters with hygiene advice (eg. take shoes off, wash
hands before eating etc).

PMNC organising committee will keep in contact with hosts regarding the list of people in their home – we
need to make sure that we are adhering to all government rules and guidelines.

For Guests
Please BYO drink and also your own drinking vessels. A good idea is to bring an esky, cooler bag or picnic
basket with all of your things in it. Try to make your cup, glass or mug very distinguishable so that there are
no mix-ups. We want the host to have to use a minimal amount of their own glassware etc.

Catering
PMNC will provide all host homes with a ‘grazing pack’. We will bring party snacks to your doorstep before
the event. Of course you can always supplement with your own specialty snacks if you wish, but there will be
plenty of food for the number of people in your house.

Music
The duration of the live set performed at each house will depend on the number of homes that we have on
the night but we estimate 30-45 mins per home.

If you have a particular song that you would like the musicians to play at your home, you can add that
request to your entry form (or maybe give them a few options to choose from) – cost $50 (paid on the
night) if it is possible to learn, they will do their best! That’s only around $3 pp for a home with 13-18 people in
it.

Raffle
We will also be running a raffle with great prizes including $50 Ferguson Plarre Bakery vouchers and
cocktails delivered to your door on the evening + more!
Buy your raffle tickets on your entry form or at the following link:
https://pmnc.teamapp.com/events/11291751
Given the nature of this event we may not be able to sell raffle tickets on the night so please pre-purchase.
