My chosen theme is religion/tradition, the reason why I chose this theme is

because religions and traditions have been shown throughout history and in many
different civilizations. There are even some similar foundations of religions that are
seen, like with many gods from the same source or are the gods of the same object.
Also, religion has always been interesting to me because depending on where you are
from it has some type of affect on you and your beliefs.

Upper Zab River Valley

Dig Site #1 Votive Bowl, 2600-2350 BCE

This Votive bowl was used to hold and carry offerings to be used
during rituals, with the carvings on the bowl it shows that this was
not a normal bowl that they used day to day. This bowl could have
been used with the votive stand below. This goes with my theme of
religion/tradition because they are used during rituals, religious
ceremonies, and placed in temples for their gods, which is a show
of their religion. (HIST 134 Virtual Archaeological Dig)

Dig Site #3 Votive Stand, 2600-2350 BCE

This Votive stand if from a temple and would be used during rituals. The
stand could hold small animal or bowls for offerings that were probably
used in the temple or during rituals for their gods. This goes with my theme
of religion/tradition because they are used during rituals, religious
ceremonies, and placed in temples for their gods, which is a show of their
religion. (HIST 134 Virtual Archaeological Dig)

Lower Zab River Valley

Dig Site #1 Alabastron, 500 BCE

Alabastron was a vessel that would hold oil, perfume and/or massage oils. They
were used as a ceremonial vessel, found in temples apart of things to follow
women into the afterlife. This goes with my theme of religion/tradition because
they are used in religious ceremonies, and placed in temples, which is a show
of their religion. (HIST 134 Virtual Archaeological Dig)

Dig Site #2 Goddess Lama Stature, 1307-1282 BCE

This Goddess Lama stature would have been used by the people to worship
and pray to their goddess. The stature could have been placed in temples
for the whole populations to use it for worship. This goes with my theme of
religion/tradition because as their religion they believed in gods, with
worshipping and prayers to this stature is a show of their religion. (HIST 134
Virtual Archaeological Dig)

Diyala Plains Tell

Dig Site #2 Statue of Gudea, 2090 BCE
Statue of Gudea was to represent the ruler, who ruled the city for 20 years.
The statue was a represented to a god. It was placed in temples for the
people to pray and for them to give offerings. This goes with my theme of
religion/tradition because as their religion they believed in gods, with
worshipping, offerings and prayers to this stature is a show of their religion.
(HIST 134 Virtual Archaeological Dig)

Dig Site #3 Statue, 2900-2600 BCE

Stature is a man carrying a box on top of his head, the box of the stature is
halo, which could be used to hole offerings during a ritual and at a religious
ceremony. This goes with my theme of religion/tradition because they are
used during rituals, religious ceremonies, and placed in temples for their gods,
which is a show of their religion. (HIST 134 Virtual Archaeological Dig)
