III. PROBLEM SOLVING:

Let x be the first consecutive even integer


X + 2 be the second consecutive even integer
X + 4 be the third consecutive even integer
x + (x + 2 ) + (x + 4) sum of the three consecutive even integers
96  sum of the three consecutive even integers

Equation:

x + (x + 2 ) + (x + 4) = 96
3x + 6 = 96
3x = 96 – 6
3x = 90
X = 30  first consecutive even integer

(x + 2) = 30 + 2
= 32  second consecutive even integer

(x + 4) = 30 + 4
= 34  third consecutive even integer

Therefore, the three consecutive even integers are 30, 32, and 34.
