Because of § 2 para 4 in conjunction with § 67 paragraph 3 and 4 of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia
(Higher Education Act - HG).. (.. GV NRW S. 547) from September 16, 2014 has the Ruhr-University Bochum the following
specific doctoral regulations of the Department of mechanical engineering adopted on the basis of their general promotion
regulations of 4 November 2014:

At the Ruhr-University Bochum is a possibility for promotion in all at the University represented subjects and research
areas.

With its General Promotionsordnung the Ruhr-University Bochum gives her responsibility for all promotions
expression by

- ensures a high transparency and quality of the process and therefore contribute to the quality assurance;

- interdisciplinary and inter-university doctoral research easier.

Under the rules of the general promotion regulations of Ruhr University Bochum, the design of the promotion and
implementation of the doctoral program the participating faculties or promotion leading institutions responsible. The
Department of Mechanical Engineering has these rules incorporated into this specific promotion regulations and
specified by subject-specific provisions and supplements.

§ 1 Ph.D.

(1) The Ruhr-University Bochum gives through their faculties or promotion leading input

(2) In general, the Department of Mechanical Engineering awards the doctorate as "Dr.". Alternatively,
give the doctoral committee doctoral degrees as "Philosophiae Doctor" (Ph.D.).

(3) The doctoral degree "Dr." is at the Faculty of Engineering of the Ruhr-University Bochum
awarded as a doctor-engineer (Dr.-Ing.) and Doctor of Engineering (Dr.-Ing.).

(4) An already conferred doctoral degree can not be obtained once again.

(5) At the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Ruhr University in Bochum, a doctorate can for
outstanding scientific achievements or for services to science and honorary doctorate as engineer honor Half

§ 2 Purpose of Promotion

§ 3 Promotion Committee

(1) The doctoral committee of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering decides on the implementation

(6) The doctoral committee shall in particular:

(7) The decision of the Promotion Committee on the unsuccessful completion of the doctoral

§ 4 Interdisciplinary Doctorate Committee

§ 5 Conditions of the promotion

§ 6 admission as a doctoral / PhD

§ 10 Promotion Commission

§ 18 High Interscholastic doctoral program
