Supported on the JN5148 wireless microcontroller, Jennic's ZigBee PRO solution offers world
class performance. The lowest power consumption, the highest processing capability through the
32-bit RISC CPU at its core and the largest on-chip memory footprint of any single chip
implementation, enables the solution to support the most demanding of application.
The ZigBee PRO protocol stack on the JN5148 provides a ZigBee Compliant Platform (ZCP) as
certified by the ZigBee Alliance, enabling users to quickly and easily develop products that can
achieve ZigBee Certified Product status.
Offered with the ever-popular Eclipse IDE, and with simple ‘C’ based Application Programming
Interfaces (APIs) for communicating to the ZigBee PRO protocol stack and to the JN5148 on-
chip peripherals, the solution enables developers to rapidly evaluate the technology and develop
products.
A series of reference designs, including a home automation system containing smart meter and
in-home display, are available.

JenNet supports star, tree and linear network topologies, and provides self-healing functionality
for robust communication. Developed on the IEEE802.15.4 standard, which operates in the
globally unlicensed 2.4GHz band, JenNet co-exists with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
This interface provides simplified access to all network and microcontroller functions, reducing
the need for designers to understand the complexities of wireless networks.

The 32-bit RISC CPU achieves world class performance through its variable instruction width,
multi-stage instruction pipeline and prioritised interrupt scheduler.
The highest levels of on-chip integration also means that the device offers many new and
innovative peripheral enhancements, such as:
4-wire digital audio interface that will connect directly to mainstream audio CODECs
Low power sleep counters designed for pulse counting in AMR applications
The JN5148 sets new benchmarks for the lowest power consumption, highest processing
capability and the highest levels of integration in a single chip wireless microcontroller.
Together, the combination of Jennic's JN5148 wireless microcontroller with Jennic's ZigBee
PRO networking stack have been certified as a ZigBee Compliant Platform (ZCP).
