Nomination Post:
Consider my submission for the post of PRESIDENT SCEE

1: Professional achievements since graduation:

I have always believed that college education is a stepping stone for all achievements in
professional life. I was blessed to have those achievements come by pretty early. After having
solidified my career as an entrepreneur during the undergrad years and winning two (2) Prime
Minister awards for entrepreneurship, 4 National and international competitions, I sold my
first startup, REALITYPOD for $110,000 in 2012. Subsequently, my second startup OZLUMEN
was also acquired by an Australian company in a span of 8 months. In December 2012, I
co-founded Wonderful Engineering, a portal for engineers around the world to connect and
explore engineering. Wonderful Engineering scaled quickly and is currently used by over 6 million
engineers from all over the world and valued at $ 1.1 Million. By 2014, I had co-founded Tech
Valley, an engineering solutions company which has also grown to become a leading solutions
provider in Pakistan. I also developed many ground-breaking technologies at Tech Valley that
granted me two (2) International and three (3) National patents.

I was blessed to get accepted into Harvard University for my Masters degree in
Management in 2016 where I graduated with the Dean’s Honor list award. By virtue of my
experiences, I have been associated with many professional organizations such as OPEN and
Founder’s Institute. I also had the unique honor of being invited as a state guest by the US
Department of State in 2015 for my entrepreneurial contributions.

2: Have you been in touch with NUST in any capacity since your graduation? If yes,
please share details?

After winning the Global entrepreneurship Summit in Turkey in 2011 for NUST and
PM Entrepreneurship Challenge, I undertook incubation as an entrepreneur at Technology
Incubation Centre, NUST. After conclusion of my incubation period and successful startups, I
have continued to contribute to the Entrepreneurial Eco-system at NUST as an Entrepreneur in
Residence, mentor and trainer for budding entrepreneurs. I have also conducted dozens of
guest talks at NUST to encourage new entrepreneurs and prime them for the journey.

I was also nominated to become part of the Industry Advisory Board at NUST which
focuses on bridging the gap between academia and industry. I have been part of numerous
Industry-Academia dialogue sessions at NUST and have tried to contribute my bit to fill the
gaps. I have served as a Judge at numerous competitions at NUST such as the HULT Prize,
ICRAI and FICS.

Being the CEO of two successful companies, I have always made it a point to give
maximum opportunity to NUST students for developing themselves professionally by offering Paid
internships in summers and offering them Jobs at graduation. More than 50 NUST students have
been part of our internship program over the course of last 6 years and many more have been
working at our organizations as employees.

3: Please write a statement of your vision for the Alumni Association, including
multiple steps and projects you would like to take if selected.

Charles Dickens once said, “Every traveler has a home of his own, and he learns to
appreciate it more from his wandering”. After having spent 8 years in professional life since
graduation from NUST and also having the opportunity to study at Harvard, I have learned
to appreciate NUST for what it truly is, a fusion of people from all over the country who yearn
to pursue a journey of enlightenment and personal discovery, together.

However, my experiences over the past 8 years have also dawned upon me the fact
that we need to work on keeping our people, our alumni and our students together. Despite
being 11 years old, SCEE does not have a formal Alumni association. The 2020 election is the
first step towards the realization of this dream, to have a unified Alumni body that is not only
functional, but effective as well.

I envision an alumni association that focuses on three key goals, to keep alumni
connected, be a source of welfare for current students and to contribute towards the growth
of institution.

I truly believe that this will not be an easy task as we have to lay the foundation of a
new institution, brick by brick. We will start by connecting with 2000 plus strong alumni
of SCEE and build a database of graduates based on their professional affiliations and
educational credentials. This database will serve as the cornerstone of all the activities of
the SCEE alumni association. We will focus on building linkages between SCEE Alumni and
current students at both undergrad and graduate level so that the upcoming
generations of SCEE graduates are mentored and supported by the best and can lead to
industry leaders, entrepreneurs and innovators of tomorrow. We will seek help of well-

placed alumni of SCEE to create Job opportunities for recent graduates and hold their
hand as they make their way to professional lives.

We will ensure that Alumni association is reachable and ever-present for you by
revamping our social media presence and strengthening digital platform for Alumni to
connect and explore common endeavors. We will also raise regional chapters that will
serve as virtual extensions of SCEE alumni association in areas near you. I believe that
these elections are also a hope for students who cannot afford college education due to
financial constraints. We will develop an alumni fund for these students so that no father
has to choose between putting food on the family table and funding his child’s college
education.

To achieve all this, we will develop a 2 year roadmap together with the rest of the
Alumni association team and work on war footings to achieve these goals. Bill Murray
once said, “You are supposed to have one hand up and one hand down. As you are trying to go
up, pull someone up at the same time”. This one sentence sums up what you should expect
from the SCEE Alumni Association, and that’s exactly what we strive to deliver.

4: Please share details of any volunteer experience, whether with NUST or any
other entity. *

From participating as a relief worker during the 2008 earthquake to organizing fundraisers
for IDPs In 2012, I have always believed in the concept of volunteering.

Ever since my graduation from NUST in 2012, I have volunteered as mentor, trainer and
judge in over 30 events at NUST without any financial remuneration. Moreover, I also started
Tiwana Foundation in 2015 to fund the education of children of lower staff at NUST, who
otherwise, could not manage to pay for education. Alhamdullilah, Tiwana foundation has
supported hundreds of students and contributed to fulfill their educational endeavors. Tiwana
foundation also supports a Girl high school in Thal, Punjab, where women literacy is a new
concept.
