CONTENT STANDARD Demonstrates an understanding of and skills in sewing household


linens.

PERFORMANCE STANDARD Sews household linens using appropriate tools and materials and
applying basic principles in sewing.

LEARNING COMPETENCIES 2.1 - Classifies tools and materials according to their use (measuring,
cutting, marking and sewing).

At the end of the period, the pupils are able to:

AWARENESS A. SETTING OF STANDARDS


The pupils should:
- Listen attentively to the teacher
- Refrain from talking with their seatmates
- Raise their hands if they want to answer
- Cooperate and participate actively in the group.
B. MOTIVATION

The Teacher will:


- Group the pupils in to three.
(group1, group2, group3)
- Present the following images below with jumbled letters via
multimedia:

- Let the pupils guess the name of the image presented and allow
them to write it in the illustration board.
- Give points to the group that can guess the word correctly.
- Present the topic to be discussed.

ACTIVITY The teacher will :

- Group the pupils into three.


- Allow the pupils to go to their respective groups.
- Give materials of real objects to group1.
- Give pictures to group 2.
- Lastly, give the word strips to group 3.
- Allow the students to classify the given materials according to their
use (measuring, cutting, marking and sewing)

ANALYSIS The teacher will:


- Let the pupils report their works in front of class as to how they
classify the materials given.
- Give a higher order thinking questions to every group:
Why are scissors considered as cutting tools?
Why are thread and needle very important in sewing?
Which is more important in sewing? Thread and needle or a sewing
machine? Explain.

ABSTRACTION

The teacher will:

- Present a PowerPoint for the topic


- Discuss the classification of sewing tools and equipment below:

Tip 1: Tools and materials must be kept in a storage box when not in use.

Tip 2: Place the pins and needles in the pin cushion.

Tip 3: Oil the scissors especially the screw to prevent rust. Have them
sharpened regularly.

Tip 4: Arrange threads neatly.


Tip 5: Make an inventory of your materials, tools and equipment.

APPLICATION GROUP ACTIVITY


The teacher will:
- Give materials to the pupils.
- Allow the pupils to classify the materials according to their use by
using a semantic web.
- Give Group 1 : Pictures
