Some scientists think that installing a lot of solar panels in the Sahara Desert could provide

clean energy for the whole world. Nobody would need any fossil fuels.
What is your opinion?
Give reasons.

From my point of view, solar panels can be a sustainable solution to our energy
problems. But I can see a couple of disadvantages: one of them, solar farms take a lot of
ground, and the other one, they have to be set up somewhere that gets a lot of sunlight.
In order to solve these disadvantages, Saharan sun is powerful enough to provide Earth
with solar energy and if the desert were a country, it would be fifth biggest in the world.
So, in my opinion, installing a solar farm in the Sahara Desert could be a good option to
provide clean energy for the whole world. Besides, the Sahara also has the advantage of
being very close to Europe.

Moreover, according to NASA estimates, each square metre of this hypothetic solar
farm would receive, on average, between 2,000 and 3,000 kilowatt hours of solar energy
per year. And the Sahara could potentially produce more than 7,000 times the electricity
requirements of Europe, without carbon emissions.
