Guidelines for UG Project (VI and VII Sem BTech & IDD)

A. Allocation of Project Supervisors

Allocation of supervisors will be done on the basis of common interest of
faculty members and students. Every faculty is supposed to guide 5 BTech
students and 1-2 IDD student with a maximum of 7 students in total. Joint
supervision is possible where one of the supervisors can be from other
Dept/School of the Institute. Students are advised to approach the
prospective supervisors and enroll in their projects within 6-JAN-2017
(Friday).

B. Progress
A clear synopsis / project plan mentioning output to be produced at
the end of VI and VII Semester will be submitted by students within 3
weeks (by 28-JAN-2017) after discussing with supervisors.
Attendance & progress monitoring of a student will be done by his/her
guide in consultation with the Coordination Committee.

C. Evaluation
1. A committee of examiners (Coordination Committee) is formed for
evaluation of UG projects. Continuousl monitoring will be done by the
Committee in consultation with the Supervisors. At the end of each
semester, students have to appear before the Committee for presentation
and viva/voce.
2. Marks can be awarded based on achievement with respect to the stated
goal in the plan, quality of development, research and/or innovation. Also
proper weightage to given to achievements of a project like papers,
patents, deployment at a professional levels etc. Emphasis should also be
given to the quality of technical report writing.
3. Supervisor(s) of a student will award 30% marks and the Committee
will award 70% marks. Gradation (S, X, I) will be done as per Institute
Guidelines for UG projects.
4. Students with 'I' grades are supposed to get extension of work at the
end of which they will be re-evaluated by the Committee and
Supervisor(s).
