VSAT SITES OPTIMIZATION

1. INTRODUCTION

 The aim of this document is to provide a summary about the VSAT sites in general as well as
their parameters adjustments in (E) GPRS.
 In this document the KPIs evolution for the 5 VSAT cells in Upper Egypt will be presented after
doing the parameters tuning.

2. VSAT SITES
 The VSAT sites are sites having their ABIS or ATER connected through satellite instead of
terrestrial links.

 Hence; for (E) GPRS some parameters must be fine tuned from the default values to other
values to be more suitable for VSAT sites.

 Below is a table summarizing the parameters that are fine tuned for the VSAT cells

3. VSAT FOR UPPER EGYPT

In Upper Egypt there are 5 cells that are connected through satellite which are stated below for which
fine tuning for the (E) GPRS parameters were performed in order to enhance their performances:

 AS-AMADATEMPLE_G_S1_58746_1_G

 QN-ELLAKITA_G_S2_59483_1_S

 QN-ELLAKITA_G_S1_59482_1_S

 QN-ELSHAGHAB_G_S1_59485_1_S

 AS-SEBOA-TMPLE_G_S1_58876_1_G

4. KPIS EVOLUTION
 In this section the main GPRS KPIs evolutions for the 5 cells will be presented in order to show
the effect of changing the parameters on the cells.

 It has to be mentioned that a great improvement was noticed on the cells after changing the
parameters as they were on the default values. This was the main cause of their bad GPRS
performances.

4.1.1. DL TBF Establishment

The DL TBF establishment success increased to keep an average of 90.07% which was 45.11% before
changing the parameters to record a percentage of improvement of 81.9%
