• Learn to perform “Morning Readiness”.

Startup / Shutdown Procedures
Startup procedures
• Learn and practice the startup procedure.
− Verify that the emergency stop button is released (turned to the right).
• Perform Morning Readiness.
− This procedure does not adjust or autocorrect a detected problem.
− Morning readiness validates that all the simulator components are operating
correctly.
− Scenarios may still function if there is a non-critical issue but should be reported to
Virage technical support.

These settings are to be adjusted by Virage Simulation, with the customer, after the
initial setup of the simulator.

Problem starting the simulator?

complete (i.e. all equipment is off and there is no fan noise from the computers).

Emergency Stop
When the red EMERGENCY STOP button is pressed,
electrical power is interrupted to the following:
• Simulator cockpit
• Motion system
• Steering wheel force feedback system
• Visual displays
• Sound system
To release the emergency stop, turn the button clockwise
(it will automatically release), and restart the simulator.

Simulator Startup Procedure
Startup Procedure
• Verify that the red emergency button is not pressed in.
• Start the VIRAGE1 computer with the switch on the front panel. (This will
automatically start the other four (4) computers and send power to all the
simulator components.)
• The simulator is ready to use when the following conditions are met:
‒ The Virage Simulation logo is displayed in the left, center and right displays.
‒ The motion system is calibrated (has moved up-down-center).
‒ The steering wheel is calibrated (has rotated to the left and right and returned to the
center).
• Start and run the Morning Readiness (MR) scenario on the Operator Station

Morning Readiness
Morning Readiness
• Verifies that all the simulator components are activated prior to a training session.
• This program does not adjust or autocorrect problems.
• Scenarios will still function if there is a non-critical issue, but report this to Virage
technical support as soon as possible.

Starting a Training Session
Logging on
1. Select a driver.
2. Select the Instructor and Group (optional).
3. Select the “Start” button.
4. Select the desired menu, if multiple menus
are available.

Selecting a scenario
Select (click on) the desired scenario and select
“Play” or double-click on the name of the
scenario.

Stopping a Training Session
From the Operator Station:
1. Click on the “Stop” button to stop
the scenario.

2. Click on the “Log Off” button.

Simulator Shutdown Procedure

All computers will shutdown automatically and power will be cut off from the cockpit
and visual structure. No other actions are required.
The complete shutdown takes about one minute.

WARNINGS
This simulator may be harmful to pregnant women, persons with heart conditions, people
who suffer from epilepsy, people who have a medical condition that may make them
susceptible to problems caused by motion, bright lights, quickly moving images, etc., the
elderly, or those with other pre-existing medical conditions.
This driving simulator may induce feelings of motion sickness and/or nausea.
This driving simulator should be used under supervision of trained personal.
This driving simulator has moving parts that may cause hazard. Under no circumstances
should the simulator be operated if safety guards or emergency stop button are removed,
bypassed or disabled. Children should not be allowed near the simulator.
All users should be briefed on the use of the emergency stop button before starting a
session.
