Simple past with when clauses

Past continuous when simple past

b) I was eating

-I was eating when the phone rang.

a) Somebody knocked on the door

b) She was cooking

- She was cooking when somebody knocked on the door

(Past continuous) (Simple past)

- When somebody knocked on the door, She was cooking.

2) Function

-Using the simple past with when to talk about the order of events in the past

DIRECT AND INDIRECT OBJECTS.

-Using object pronouns to avoid repeating nouns in a description of a person´s life.


3) Real Examples

- I’ll come home when i finish work.

- When you heat ice, it melts.

-They were sleeping when the dog barked.

- When the dog barked, they were sleeping.

-we were not listening to music when our boss got to the office.

- When our boss got to the office, we were not listening to music.

RESUMEN:

-When a woman left a party, a Venezuelan citizen raped and recorded her.

- When the woman woke up the next morning, very confused and half naked, she only
