A pleasant morning to all, especially to our panelists ma’am, sir, and to our

beloved chairman, Atty. Gerald Tabadero. Before I discuss my research, I would

like to recall why I chose my thesis entitled “FACTORS AFFECTING THE

INTEREST AND MOTIVATION TO STUDY” and this can be seen in my

Rationale, precisely on page 2. “cultivating interest should not be an afterthought

to the typical learning situation: Interest is essential to academic success.” and it

also written in page 5 that “Motivation will be an important factor affecting the

learning and success of the students by affecting the initiation and continuity of

the activities, increasing the time of the students' duties. And of course I am

interested and motivated in this study. Thus, my study was made to determine

the FACTORS AFFECTING THE INTEREST AND MOTIVATION TO STUDY of

the junior high school learners at Lipit National High School.

Lastly, Interest theory suggests that another route to capturing and sustaining

students’ motivation is helping students find meaning and value in their courses

(Harackiewicz & Hulleman, 2010).

Indeed, let me now present to you the findings of my study through my

SUMMARY, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Summary

This study discovered the Factors affecting the Interest and Motivation to

study of the Junior High School Learners at Lipit National High School. Clearly,

problem number 1 focused on what are the factors affect the respondent’s

interest and motivation to study in terms of the following: Facilities, School

Structure, Teacher and Administrator, Classroom Atmosphere and Personal

Values. I used the descriptive research design. The sources of my study include

the Junior High School Learners at Lipit National High School. I generated the

questionnaire based on literature and articles. Likert Scale Questionnaire

( assumes that the strength/intensity of an attitude is linear, i.e. on a continuum

from strongly agree to strongly disagree, and makes the assumption that

attitudes can be measured. ) was used. The Freqeuncy Percentage ( is

calculated by taking the frequency in the category divided by the total number of

participants and multiplying by 100% ) and Average Weighted Mean were used

as statistical tools in the study.

The following are the salient findings of my study :

1. The junior high school learners strongly agree that the following

factors affect their interest and motivation to study: Faclities, School

Structure, Teacher and Administrator and Classroom Atmosphere. While

the learners agree that the Personal Values affects their interest and

motivation to study. ( This can be seen in my manuscript Chapter 3 pages

31 )
2. As shown on the results, the junior high learners strongly agreed that

they are interested and motivated to study when it comes to the Teacher and

Administrator because it has the highest overall weighted mean which is 3.59.

The respondents also strongly agreed that Facilities affects their interest and

motivation to study because it has an overall weighted mean of 3.53. Also,

the respondents strongly agreed that they are interested and motivated to

study when it comes to Classroom Atmosphere because it has the highest

overall weighted mean which is 3.42. Furthermore, the respondents strongly

agreed that School Structure or what we so-called Physical Plant affects the

interest and motivation to study because it has an overall weighted mean of

3.31. Lastly, the respondents have agreed that they are motivated with the

Personal Values because it has an overall weighted mean of 2.72. (This can

be seen in manuscript Chapter 3 pages 32, 37, 42, 47, 52)

3. The programs, projects and activities (PPAs) of the Lipit National High School

with the help of School Administrators are as follows: Programs: (a) Brigada

Eskwela, (b) English Speaking Campaign, (c) Buwan ng Wika, (d) Anti-Drug

Campaign, (e) Intramurals, (f) Festivals and other voluntary events that

involves students.

Conclusions

Based from the results, the following were concluded:

1. The respondents are interested and motivated to study in terms of the

following factors: Facilities, School Structure, Teacher and Administrator,

Classroom Atmosphere and Personal Values. However, some of the

respondents are not quited motivated with learning Personal Values because

it is shown on the Table 7 that the 2nd and 4th indicator has an average

weighted mean of 2.35 for the 2nd indicator and 2.48 for the 4th indicator.

2. Although there are indicators that stood out of all the other indicators

according to which factor they belong, the respondents have different views

and perception as to what indicator really affects the junior high school

learners interest and motivation to study.

3. The results of the study could be a great help to the respondents or

learners in the factors that affects the interest and motivation to study.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Based on the findings, the following are recommended.

1. Junior High School Learners should be more interested and motivated

to study in term of the following factor which is the Personal Values. They

should learn what is the meaning of values that they have at home and

school. They should also be interested and motivated to the other factors

which are the Facilities, School Structure, Teacher and Administrator,

Classroom Atmosphere. Not just focusing their interest and motivation in the

Personal Values.

2. The Teachers and Administrators should continue teaching their learners

the expertise so that they can maintain their interest and can also have

motivation to study in all of the subjects.

3. They should have more programs or activies to develop the respondents

motivation and it can help them have interests in each and every activities

because each learners have their own skills.
