Content Developer – Marketing and Communications

Wildlife Trust of India (WTI) is a leading Indian nature conservation organisation


committed to the service of nature. Its mission is to conserve wildlife and its habitat
and to work for the welfare of individual wild animals, in partnership with
communities and governments. WTI’s team of 150 dedicated professionals work
towards achieving its vision of a secure natural heritage of India, in six priority
landscapes, knit holistically together by nine key strategies or Big Ideas.
Who we’re looking for

If the written word is your tool of choice, you can grasp concepts and narrate them
imaginatively; we are looking for you. WTI team is looking for a creative content
developer to write clear, cogent, simplified and well-researched copy for WTI
publications, campaigns and website. Your words will inform, help understand, build
knowledge and engage audiences. A flair for narrative building, visual story-telling
and eye for detail are critical for the role. Experience in organising and maintaining
written records will be valued.

Qualification, Experience& Skills

 Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken


 Efficiency in generating content for the website and social media platforms
like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn etc.
 Portfolio of published articles preferred
 Should be ‘field-ready’ – prepared to go to the field on short notice, physically
fit enough, stay for long periods (10-20 days)
 Ability to identify a story and develop an engaging narrative
 Ability to capture portrait and landscape photographs with an emotive aspect
 Should be able to communicate the Big Idea of the respective divisions
through his/ her work.
 An understanding of digital marketing
 Flair for identifying the target audience for a story
 Ability to convert/edit the stories intended for a specific target group to a
generic one (or vice versa) for platforms such as social media
 Good time management skills, ability to meet deadlines
 Social skills to engage with different stakeholders in the field- forest staff,
locals, field staff etc.
 Video editing skills/Documenting skills
 Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in the Communication/ Advertising/
Journalism/ Public Relations/ Social Work/ Marketing, with 3-5 years
experience
 Fairly good knowledge of HTML, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Macromedia
Flash,  MS- FrontPage etc would be of benefit in this profession
 Passion for wildlife conservation
Broad responsibilities include

 Research Wildlife related topics and on-field events to develop content and
stories
 Create original, rich and creative digital content that is optimised for search
engines.
 Write/edit/ proofread articles, photo essays, short videos, and news stories for
the WTI website, social media and media releases in consultation with the
Projects and Communication team
 Ensure all-around consistency (style, font, image and tone) of brand narrative
 Assist Head – Communications in developing content for WTI website,
internal and external publications such as newsletters, appeals, press
releases, email announcements, publications, videos, special projects and
assignments.
 Help grassroots partners with their communication planning and capacity
building
