IN BULGARIA

M: Excuse me. May I interrupt for a moment? Do you speak English?

D: Yes, I speak English and Bulgarian

M: My name is Maritza. Can you help me, please?

D: Hi miss. What´s the matter?

M: I´m confused and jet lag. Do you know Rila Monastery?

D: Of course. Cross the street and walk two blocks to the right.

M: I don´t understand it because I am a tourist. I´m from Peru. Can you take me,
please?

D: Yes, but…

M: I would appreciate your company.

D: Your clothes isn´t appropriated to visit the Monastery.

M: What? I like my look. Is it OK to use dress and sandals?

D: Normally, people use formal clothing. Although, some people sometimes wear
white clothes.

M: Why? Is it a tradition here?

D: Yes. Bulgaria has laypersons but the Ortodox Church is our official religion.
However, twelve percent are muslims.

M: I don´t like this religion. I prefer to know other places.

D: Oh!!! You have a tattoo.

M: Guess what? I´m getting another tattoo in my country?

D: But what about?

M: I´m not sure. I could get a tattoo of a nice village here. For example, “Shiroka Laka”
because it is a beautiful place that I found on the Internet.

D: Have you ever drunk a Bulgarian yogurt?

M: I haven´t drunk it. I´ve just found information of known places.

D: OK. So today is your opportunity to do it.

M: What is the best restaurant in this country?

D: The best restaurant is “Sunny Beach” because the typical foods are very delicious.

D: For example: “Tarator” and “Shospka salad”.

M: Wow!!! That difficult names of the foods. What is the language this country?

D: I´m sorry. I forget to comment you. The typical language is the Bulgarian.

M: I have a language barrier that prevent I from understanding another country. I miss
my country and my parents. So I´m homesick.

D: Go to the restaurant.

IN THE “SUNNY BEACH”

M: The food is very delicious. You are very kind and Should you be considerate of
other people?

D: Yeah!! Because people are pleasant and respectful with the tourists. In this culture,
the food expressions are very different to another country.

M: Why?

D: Bulgarians shake their heads from one side to another to say “Yes”.

M: Wow!! I am supposed to seat the head when it is “No”. Our cultures are different
in the food expression but in the eating habits are similar.

D: The weather is different too. For example, July and August are very hot and in
January it rains a lot.

M: I think it must to be because it is in the Balcanes peninsula.

D: Sure. I hope you get used to it.

M: Thank you for the information.
