 ABSTRACT
Intelligence has been man’s most important asset for millions of years. For centuries humans have
been trying to improve their intelligence through various ways, for intelligence build powerful
nations and people. On the streak of improving intelligence the elements of speed and
accuracy in solving has taken a bigger piece of the pie, so came the idea of creating an
artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence being a fast evolver has attained great heights in
not more than two score years. It is not only for scientific purpose but also for healthcare,
education, security and also military purpose. If handled with better control, it may be a great
uplift for the world.

WHAT IS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE ?

• Development of computer systems that are able to perform tasks that would
require human level perception and intelligence.

E.g. : Self driven cars.

Navigation systems.
Humanoid robots like Sophia and ASIMO
TYPES OF AI:

• Artificial Narrow Intelligence(ANI): carries out a specific task only.

• Artificial General Intelligence(AGI): performs different tasks.
• Artificial Super Intelligence(ASI): performs a wide range of actions and can
generate codes by itself.
HISTORY OF AI:

• Model of Artificial neuron by Warren McCulloch & Walter pins in 1943.

• John McCarthy coined the word on march 1956 at Dartmouth college,
Hanover.
• In 1958 McCarthy invented the LISP programming language, which is still
widely used in AI research.
• Since the 1950s the great deal of optimism on AI was replaced by degree of
realism.
CREATION OF AI:

• MACHINE LEARNING: Algorithms and processors that can classify and cluster
raw input and improve themselves when they are given more data. We can
create a dataset that can teach the program how to differentiate.
• DEEP LEARNING: Uses mathematical tools such as formal logic, probability
and decision theory. The AI program automatically refines its method and
improves its results as it gets more data – The way our mind works.
THE STATUS OF AI TODAY:

• Siri (Apple), Cortana (Microsoft), Google assistant (Google), Alexa(Amazon)

& Bixby(Samsung).
• Waze – Crowd sourcing navigation system.
• Spam email blockers.
• Automated response service centres.
• Warnings about fraud cheques and credit cards.
• Image recognition.
PROS & ISSUES OF CONCERN:
PROS:
• Health care: Identifying best
treatment.
• Transportation: Autonomous vehicles.
• Cyber security: NSA’s Monster Mind.
• Military: Detection and targeting
moving enemies.
ISSUES OF CONCERN:
• Knowing what we really want
• Safety of AI programs.
• Impact on employment.
• Ensuring human control.
CONCLUSION:
• There are many positive things because of the development of AI.
• We should know what we really need and our limits.
• We should develop not only the Artificial intelligence but also improve our
future generation’s intelligence too.
• We should be aware of having control over the AI and not let them control us.
• If prevented from those risks the AI would become the greatest uplift of the
human race.
