8. PROCEDURE
8.1.Back propping
Prior to the commencement of the work the ground floor slab of the pump room shall be supported using back propping
system (cup lock + decking + infill beam)as per the attached layout ref GG2_PV_SD_D_SF_01_10_00 on the basement
raft.
Care shall be taken to protect the completed GRP work inside the water tank by covering it with polyethylene sheet followed
by18 mm plywood.
8.2.Survey and Marking
Mark the concrete area outline for the 2400*2400 mm to be chipped at the pump room ground floor as shown in the
attached lay outs.
Mark the concrete out line for the column 400*400 mm at the basement floor slab (raft) as per the attached layouts.
8.3.Chipping / removal of concrete
After marking the area of concrete that to be removed (2.4*2.4 m) at the pump floor slab, this marking will be saw cut using
grinder to a depth of 10 mm for proper termination of the chipping works.
Use an electric chipping hammer, a width of 100-150 mm of concrete at the perimeter of the marking to be chipped to the
full depth of the pump floor slab.
The remaining entire area within the 2.4*2.4 m area will be demolished using jack hammer.
Do chipping for the top surface of basement raft to the dimension of the column (400x400) mm to be done.
The existing steel reinforcement bars will be properly cleaned using wire steel brush to remove any laitance or foreign
materials.
8.4.Inserting for starter bars
Using the drill, 25 mm diameter holes will be prepared with 200 mm depth at the spacing specified at the drawing with total
no of 8 no. of main column reinforcement rebar.
The holes will be cleaned well by compressed air or blower.

Approved anchoring system, Hilti HIT RE 500, will be used for the anchoring of steel bars.
Place the Hilti hit Re 500 foil pack into the holder of the dispenser.
Screw the mixer assembly onto the foil pack.
Put this assembly into the dispenser.
Inject the Hilti HIT RE 500 starting from the hole.
The volume required of Hilti HIT RE 500 can be calculated as follow
V ml= L x (D12-D22)/ 1000= 200x ((25)2-(20)2)/1000=45 ml for each hole
This means that 8 no of holes will take 8*45=360 ml (i.e. approx. 1 foil pack will be used for the total no. of holes).
Injection of epoxy shall be start from bottom of the hole and slowly withdrawn upward in order to avoid air pockets.
Push the rebar into the epoxy giving it slight twisting motion to allow flow of the epoxy around the deformation of the bar.
The same will be repeated for the eight no of rebar.
The inserted rebar shall be left undisturbed for min. 4 hours until complete curing of the epoxy.
RFIA will be raised to the Engineer for checking the installation of steel rebar.
8.5.Steel reinforcement fixing
As per the transmittal from M/s. XXXX ref. GG2_TRA_TCI_PIV_0429, 8 T 20 main reinforcement of the column will be
installed with T8 @ 150 mm stirrups as per the attached shop drawing reinforcement details.
Additional top reinforcement bars 6T25 with length (L=3500 mm) will be added in both directions.
Shear links T10@20 cm, each direction, will be fixed within the area 2.4*2.44 m
8.6.Formwork shutter
Formwork shutter will be erected as per the attached concrete out line at the shop drawing.
The same will be checked before casting by QA/QC and RFIA will be raised to the Engineer for concrete pouring.
Application of bonding Agent:
Approved bonding agent, PVA LATEX REPRESA, will be applied to the chipped area at the pump room ground floor slab,
manufacturer instructions for mixing and application will be followed as per the attached data sheet.
8.7.Concrete pouring
Approved C40/10 non shrinkage concrete (GGBS + OPC + Cebex 100) will be poured to the prepared shutter of column.
8.8.Curing
After 24 hours, column shutter can be removed while the slab shutter shall be kept for at least 14 days and the curing shall
continue for min. 7 days using wet purl lab clothes.
8.9.GRP Lining
After the curing time elapsed, the supporting scaffolding shall be dismantled tacking care not to damage the internal GRP
lining.
Prepare the column and ceiling concrete surface, corner edges to be chamfered and floor column angles shall be provided
with mortar angle fillet prior to GRP application.
The approved 5mm GRP lining will be applied to the column and ceiling with required lamination to the floor and ceiling
existing GRP lining.
The GRP lining work for the column and ceiling will be applied in accordance to the approved method statement of GRP
lining via our approved submittal ref. GG2_MD_07110_2415 rev. (0)
Openings enlargement.
1. As per the MEP requirements the existing openings 250*250 mm are required to be enlarged to be 500*500 mm,
the following procedure shall be followed:
The new openings (500*500 mm) shall be marked by the MEP engineer.
The marking shall be saw cut to terminate the chipping of concrete.
Chipping shall start using Electric chipping hammer (Hilti) till the required clear dim obtained
