ANALYSIS OF PLANAR MECHANISMS

Introduction
We shift from the graphical methods of position, velocity and accelerations analyses that have been
comprehensively dealt with before in EMG 2208 Mechanics of Machines I (recall position, velocity
and acceleration diagrams as well as Coriolis theorem) and introduce analytical kinematic analysis.
Detailed analytical kinematic analysis of planar linkages is dealt with in postgraduate studies. Here,
we shall consider only the slider-crank mechanism.
