Introduction
The central dogma in biology describes the connection of genes from the DNA to RNA in
producing proteins. The genes specify the sequences of the copied mRNA molecules from the
DNA, which in end controls the production of proteins. This involves the two stages,
transcription (a process that transcribe the DNA molecule into RNA molecule and translation (a
process in which the interpretation of coded genes happen to produce sequences amino acids).
The manufactured proteins are responsible for all cell structures, functions and activities
in and out of the cell.

Each cell in the organism’s body has the (A) ______ that is the control centre of
all activities and functions. Inside the nucleus are the (C) ______ threadlike structure of
nucleic acids and protein carrying genetic information in the form of (E) ______.
Deoxyribonucleic acid, or (F) ______ is the material that is located in the cell's nucleus
that makes up the chromosomes and genes. The arrangement of nitrogenous bases in
DNA determines an organism's (G) ______. Each (E) ______ occupies a specific
position on a chromosome and contain the information needed to make functional
molecules. Genes provide instructions for making (D______) that determine
the structure and function of each cell in the body, it means that (E) ______ are
responsible for all the characteristics you inherit.

E. Evaluate
Identify the following.
1. Most genes contain the information needed to make functional molecules
called _________.
2. ___________ or DNA is the material that is located in the cell's nucleus that makes up
the chromosomes and genes.
3. Each gene occupies a specific position on a ___________ and contain the information
needed to make functional molecules..
4-5. ____________ provide instructions for making proteins, and proteins determine
the structure and function of each ____________in the body
Reflection

of our personality as well as our physical health and appearance… And yet, we all know that life
experience do change us.

Activity 5
The DNA are molecules of thin threadlike structures found in the nucleus of the cell. It
contains the genes that carry on information needed in the production of proteins. Proteins
control the structure and functions of the cell. It also play a role in the manifestation of traits of
an organism inherited to both parents.
