Summary
Attock Petroleum Limited was incorporated in Pakistan as a Public Limited Company on December 03,
1995. APL is the 4th Oil Marketing Company that was granted marketing license and commenced its
operations in February 1998. The Company was listed on Pakistan Stock Exchange (formerly known as
Karachi Stock Exchange) on March 07, 2005. Within a short span of time, APL has managed to establish
its presence and reputation as a progressive and dynamic organization, having its focus on providing
quality petroleum products and services in Pakistan and abroad, with special emphasis on meeting all
safety and environment standards. APL is the 2nd largest Oil Marketing Company in Pakistan and its
market share for the financial year 2018-19 is 10.8%. Our growing market share and customer
confidence is a testimony to our successful policies, proactive endeavors and visionary approach. As at
June 30, 2019 the Company operates the Retail Network of 662 pumps countrywide. APL markets and
supplies fuels to retail outlets, industries, armed forces, power producers, government/semi-
government entities, developmental sector and agricultural customers etc.

Share Price
A share price – or a stock price – is the amount it would cost to buy one share in a company. The price of

a share is not fixed, but fluctuates according to market conditions. It will likely increase if the company is

perceived to be doing well, or fall if the company isn't meeting expectations.

From above mentioned prices it shows Book value of APL share price is greater than Market Value.
There are several methods for measuring company share prices which are listed on PSX and results from
each method may vary. But two methods are mostly used by investors which are Book Value amd
Market Value Method.

Book Value
The book value literally means the value of a business according to its books (accounts) that is reflected
through its financial statements. Theoretically, book value represents the total amount a company is
worth if all its assets are sold and all the liabilities are paid back. This is the amount that the company’s
creditors and investors can expect to receive if the company is liquidated.

Market Value
The market value represents the value of a company according to the stock market. While market value
is a generic term that represents the price, an asset would get in the marketplace, it represents
the market capitalization in the context of companies. It is the aggregate market value of a company
represented as a dollar amount. Since it represents the “market” value of a company, it is computed
based on the current market price (CMP) of its shares.
