Gracias, Cariño

By Adrian Kang

When I saw you smile for the first time, time stopped,
The hair surfing on the balmy breeze stunned my heart.
A crazy feeling steered my body, my hands dropped,
Your eyes, your lips, everything; they must be a work of art.

Chasing her under the dim moonlight: we were lost in the woods;
just you and me, cariño, the skin touched the other.
You brought me laughter, we remembered the good,
Looking after one another, we promised to stay together

As the leaves browned and shattered to the ground,

I noticed her smile not as bright as before.

One day she is confident enough to tell me

that I should gain weight
that I’m so prideful
that I’m a cheapskate
that I’m distrustful

Tears fall down with an empty heart.

Pero debería aprender de lo que ella me enseño But I should learn from what she taught me
I know if I want her, I should act smart.
Gracias cariño y perdoname, si lloro como un niño. Thank you, sweetie, and forgive me if I cry like a boy.

El amor genuino es compartir el amor contigo. True love is to share the love with you.
Gracias, cariño, Thank you, sweetie,
Me voy a cambiar.  I’m going to change.
Te necesito, I need you,
Te quiero,  I love you,
Yo me veo contigo.  I see myself with you.
Gracias, cariño. Thank you, sweetie,
Ahora yo sé amar. now I know how to love.
Gracias, cariño is a love poem that describes the feeling of a
boy who learns true love. At some point in our lives, we learn
that true love requires us not only to love but also to respect
and learn from your partner.
