TEXT

The purpose of this bulletin is to inform all Flight Crew of the main changes of FCOM, QRH revisions dated 03
May 2016 and FCTM revision dated 22 Mars 2016.This revision will be available onboard in the coming days.
Pilots are requested to download this new revision of the FCOM and QRH using the link joined to this bulletin.

The main changes are indicated below:

1. UPDATE OF THE GPWS/EGPWS ALERTS

1.1. EFFECT ON THE MANUALS
• FCOM: PRO-ABN-34 – NAVIGATION – GPWS/EGPWS CAUTIONS
• FCOM: PRO-ABN-34 – NAVIGATION – GPWS/EGPWS WARNINGS
• QRH: ABN-34 – NAVIGATION – GPWS/EGPWS CAUTIONS

1.2. SUMMARY OF THE MODIFICATION

The FCOM and QRH ABN section associated to the GPWS/EGPWS have been divided into two distinct sections:
 WARNINGS section
 CAUTIONS section

WARNINGS section:
The warnings section only contains the aural alerts with associated actions necessitating an immediate application
of the “PULL UP TOGA” memory item.
The warnings can no more be disregarded during daylight VMC conditions.

CAUTIONS section:
The cautions section now considers different criteria for the application of the procedure: 1000 ft IMC / 500 ft VMC,
daylight / night.
The following changes have been made on cautions:

“TERRAIN, TERRAIN”, “TOO LOW TERRAIN”, “TERRAIN AHEAD”, “OBSTACLE AHEAD”

- During night or IMC conditions, the “PULL UP TOGA” memory item must be applied.
- During daylight and VMC, the required action is to adjust the flight path.

“SINK RATE”, “DON’T SINK” and “GLIDE SLOPE”

- If the aircraft is below 1000 ft IMC / 500 ft VMC the flight crew must consider going around
- If the aircraft is above 1000 ft IMC / 500 ft VMC the flight crew can adjust the pitch and thrust

“TOO LOW GEAR”, “TOO LOW FLAPS”

- No change has been made; the required action is to perform a go-around.

2. White OEB 46 "No Engagement of Guidance Mode"
2.1. EFFECT ON MANUALS
- FCOM-OPERATIONS ENGINEERING BULLETINS
- QRH-OPERATIONS ENGINEERING BULLETINS
2.2. SUMMARY OF THE MODIFICATIONS
The progressive update of aircraft’s ELAC software to ELAC L97 standard, cancels RED OEB 38. Nevertheless, as a
consequence of this change another white OEB 46 "No Engagement of Guidance Mode" is now applicable to the
updated aircrafts.
Note:
We would like to remind you that as specified in the STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES during PRELIMINARY
COCKPIT PREPARATION flight crews must go to the OEB section of the QRH and review all OEBs (particularly red
OEBs) that are applicable to the aircraft.
Please note that the OEB review shall also be performed during a transit stop.

3. ENHANCEMENT OF THE DOCUMENTATION

The FCOM DESCRIPTION & ABNORMAL sections are enhanced to:
 Standardize the FCOM content, in accordance with flight crew expectations, as already done in the A350
FCOM.
 Reduce both the size and the number of FCOM revisions.
3.1. EFFECT ON MANUALS
- FCOM GEN
- FCOM DSC: ATA 21, 24, 26, 27, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34 NAV, 35, 36, 38, 45, 49, 52, 70.
- FCOM PRO-ABN: all sections

3.2. SUMMARY OF THE MODIFICATIONS

The FCOM GEN section is revised to provide:
- The “Aircraft Configuration Summary (ACS)” table: For awareness and for the specified aircraft, this table provides
the flight crew with a list of optional aircraft systems and functions related to flight and aircraft operations. The ACS
table is also part of the QRH “OPERATIONAL DATA”.

- The” If Installed” table: This table provides a list of optional systems and functions of the aircraft.
For most of the optional systems or functions associated with the “If installed” symbol, this table indicates if an optional
system is installed or not, based on the aircraft configuration as reported to Airbus.
Note: Highly customized options such as cabin installations are not covered in this table.

Some parts of the FCOM DSC & ABN sections are revised to:
- Provide more pilot-oriented information.
- Remove highly detailed technical information such as schematics of logics.
- Provide the triggering conditions and flight phase inhibitions of the ECAM Alerts in the PRO-ABN instead of DSC-
Warning and Caution sections.
