Title: SEVEN SHADES DARKER

B. Materials used: Basketball ring, chain, drift woods, doll hand, feather, poster
paint, glue stick, hourglass, coin, Christmas ball, watch, clear glass, Christmas lights,
etc.

C. Medium: Mixed Media

D. Way: Construction
E. Style: Assemblage - a form of sculpture comprised of "found" objects arranged in
such a way that they create a piece. These objects can be anything recyclable or man-
made.

F. Explanation:
The world, being at the center, comprises the earth and all life on it, together with all of
its countries, people, natural features, and human civilization. The black and brown
shades in this sculpture tell no difference in the darkened areas of paintings, drawings,
and the like.
There are a myriad of things I want to describe the word, World.
I. Coiled chain- shows slavery and force to do something unreasonable
II. Sword- represents discrimination and the penetrating power of the intellect.
III. Gun bullet- includes violence, anger, pride and guilt which are present in today's
world in some ways
IV. Black Feather- symbolizes mourning, grief and being distant. Fallen feathers also
shows disconnection from a body that is to say, Death.
V. Broken Watch and Hourglass- implies loss of track wherein there is no progress -
impatience, bad luck and misfortune, instead.
VI. Coin- reflects corrupt government officials who greed money and commit crimes as
bribery, graft, falsification of public documents, among others.
VII. Dead tree- stands for death or that there is no escaping time. This might be a
reminder to live life as if it is the last or it might have a darker meaning.
Nonetheless, we should never forget the last thing I've got- the Christmas lights.
Together, we are being called to act as prophets of today's world. Every light stands for
every concerned citizen - fighting for humanity, speaking for the voiceless, and
flattening the curve - to eliminate hypocrisy. When fellow human beings start helping
others, we can foster change in this world to make black shades turn white.
