Can matter change its state?

We all know water can exist in three states of matter- solid ( ice), liquid (water), gas ( water vapour) .
* The temperature at which solid melts into liquid is called it's melting point. (MP)
*The M P of ice is 0°c or 273 K (Kelvin) Presently we use Kelvin scale.
* The BP of ice is 100°c or 273+100= 373K.
*When a solid melts, it's temperature remains the same. Where does the heat energy go?
*Heat is used to melt whole of ice, ie, heat energy is absorbed by ice during its melting but the
temperature doesn't change.
*Thus rise in temperature gets hidden into the contents of the beaker n is known as LATENT Heat
