Extended Warranty

Policy Terms and Conditions

Coverage:
Extended Warranty on Mobile handsets for 1 year from the date of the expiry of
manufacturer’s warranty. Covering the insured for another 365 days.

Property/Equipment: A digital mobile telephone, as evidenced by relevant proof of


purchase, provided that it is fitted and used with a SIM Card (being a card or other medium
carrying the owner’s identity, use of which in conjunction with the equipment enables calls to
be charged to the owners account) issued to the owner, spouse or unmarried children.

Territorial Limits: Within the geographical area of India.

Dealers / Repairers: Duly Authorized appointed agency by manufacturer / administrator


(Warranty Asia) who’s such authorization is in force and not suspended or cancelled or
disputed.

Limit of Indemnity: Limited to repair/replacement of the parts as envisaged in the


warranty. No depreciation will be charged on the parts replaced but the overall cost
shall not exceed 60% of the current replacement cost with the new handset of same
make and model or having similar features as that of the insured handset.

Scope of cover
This policy shall cover mechanical / electrical defects to Mobile handsets both in material and
workmanship under normal use, discovered during the Extended Warranty Period of one
year. The manufacturer is granting one year warranty during which period warranty losses
are on the Manufacturers Account. This policy will indemnify the Manufacturers warranty
claims arising during Extended Warranty Period on one year to his customers beyond the
Normal Warranty Period allowed by the Manufacturer.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
The handset shall be serviced only at the Authorized service centre appointed by the
Manufacturer / Warranty Asia and in accordance with the manufacturer’s specification and at
such intervals as stipulated by the manufacturer.
The benefits under the Policy shall be available only to the First Registered Owner of the
handset.
1. However this does not cover:
a) Damage caused by negligence, abuse or misuse in respect of the Handset including
failure to use the Handset in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and maintenance
recommendations.
b) The use of batteries, charger and/or accessories not approved by manufacturer, incorrect
electrical leads or connections.
c) Faulty software programming or electrical power or surge or fluctuation.
d) Wear and tear, gradual deterioration, cracks, scratching and chipping of surfaces.
e) Any repair / alteration of the handset carried out by anyone other than a service centre
authorized by the Manufacturer / Warranty Asia.
f) Batteries, charger and accessories even though part of original sales package are not
covered under the scheme.
g) Loss of use of the handset or consequential loss of any nature.
h) Any associated charges levied by the supplier to the buyer including but not limited to
airtime connection, SIM card programming and installation costs.
i) Break-down not covered under manufacturer’s warranty.
j) Due to accident, bad weather, fire theft or attempted theft, terrorism, freezing or heat, flood,
earthquake, natural calamities, war, strike, riot, civil commotion nuclear perils
k) Any loss arising due to virus, bad commands or faulty signals emanating from mobile
service providers or any other electronics data media.
l) Any reduced performance or efficiency of the handset.

2. CLAIM PROCESS / DOCUMENTS REQUIRED


In the event of a claim please do the following: -
For Extended Warranty claim 1. Contact any service center authorized by Manufacturer /
Warranty Asia for the respective handset, with this certificate for repair.
2. Get an estimate for repair from the service centre.
3. Discuss the estimate with Warranty Asia for approval and authorization.
4. Warranty Asia to authorize the insured as per the policy terms.
5. No repair work should start without the Warranty Asia approval.
6. Insured needs to get extended warranty claim note filled, stamped and signed from the
authorized service centre.
7. Insured to pay the repairer in full after getting the handset repaired.
8. Insured needs to submit the original repair bill, extended warranty claim note and photo
copies of purchase bill, insurance certificate and job sheet to Warranty Asia by post / courier.
9. Insured will be reimbursed the authorized claim amount by The Oriental Insurance
Company Ltd after submitting all relevant documents and as per the policy terms and
conditions.
The owner shall:-
a. Notify any defect in material or malfunctioning due to workmanship to the
Administrator as soon as reasonably possible and in any event within 48 hours.
b. Complete and return all claim documents to the administrator as soon as
reasonably possible and in any event within 15 days of the claim.
c. Provide at the Owner’s expense all details that the Insurer may require concerning the
cause and amount of the claim
Please note that no claim will be entertained in the absence of this original certificate of
insurance.
3. The insurer shall not be liable in respect of breakdown directly or indirectly caused by or
contributed to by or arising from: -
(a) War, invasion, act of foreign enemy, hostilities (whether war be declared or not), civil war,
rebellion, insurrection or military or usurped power, confiscation, or nationalization, or
requisition or destruction or damage to equipment by or under the order of any government
or public or local authority.
(b) Ionizing radiations or contamination by radioactivity from any nuclear fuel or from any
nuclear waste from the combustion of nuclear fuel, or
(c) The radioactive, toxic, explosive or other hazardous properties or any explosive nuclear
assembly or nuclear component thereof.
(d) Pressure waves caused by aircraft or other aerial devices traveling at sonic or supersonic
speeds.
4. Insurer shall not be liable if any claim made under the insurance is fraudulent in any
respect, or if the buyer to obtain any benefit hereunder uses any fraudulent means or
devices, all benefits available to the respective buyer shall be forfeited.
5. The buyer is indemnified for the electrical / mechanical fault under this policy only for the
cost of repair / replacement of parts by the service center authorized by
Manufacturer/Warranty Asia.
6. If at the time of claim of the handset, there shall be any other insurance covering the same
handset, the insurer shall not be liable to pay or contribute more than their rateable
proportion of indemnity.
7. DISPUTES
Any dispute regarding interpretation of the terms, conditions and exceptions of this policy
shall be determined in accordance with the law and practice of a court of competent
jurisdiction within Delhi.
The seller and/or the manufacturer does not hold any warranty and /or make representation
about quality of the cover, claim processing or settlement of the claim by The New India
Assurance Company Ltd in any manner whatsoever. In no event the seller, distributor,
dealer, administrator and /or the manufacturer shall be liable for any liability, loss, damages,
claims under this policy for any reason whatsoever, including but not limited to arising out of
delay in settlement of claim or any dispute in claim amount or policy terms. By availing the
benefits provided under this policy, the buyer hereby agrees to be bound by all the terms and
conditions and exclusions as contained hereinabove.
