in Large Scale Networks”

Research Problem:
This article provides a brief and detailed overview of simulation
development and evaluation of performance for Routing Protocols which are developed for
lossy and low Power large scale networks. This evaluation is observed on the basis of
different objectives functions and routing metrics of these protocols.

Claimed Contribution of the Paper:

This article claims that in previous researches only
node and link related constraints and metrics are analyzed whereas in this article both the old and
newly proposed Objective functions are discussed together by keeping in view the key observation
parameters as well as the performance of the routing metrics.

Research Methodology:
OMNET++ simulator along with INET 2.3 framework is used to
deploy a large scale network usin IPv6 and observe its behavior over the defined parameters.

Conclusions:
This article concluded that “the opportunistic” packet forwarding method consumes
less energy than “the-preferred-parent” method in Large Scale Multi-Hop Networks. Based on this
simulation result and overview of literature this article can provide a viable concept to network
engineers.

Limitations:
In the simulation part, it is assumed that the node showing 0% power will leave the
network immediately but in real time scenario that 0% power node might be a faulty one and can
malfunction. So due to such events the results may vary in real time scenarios.
