Kent loves fruits. He has a fruit plantation with different kinds of fruits. He has bananas, guavas,

pineapple and avocados. He counted his fruits every time he visit them. He has 15 bananas, 25

guavas, 30 pineapples and 10 avocados.

That night, he drew his plants. He drew 1 banana for 5 bananas. 1 guava for every 5 guavas, 1

pinaapple for every 5 pineapples and 1 avocado for every 5 avocados.

Modeling

Let us count the number of fruits that Kent has. Remember that each fruit represents 5.

How many bananas are there?

5+5+5= 15 or 5x3=15

Let’s continue.
How many guavas are there? Pineapple? Avocados?

Class what Kent drew is called a pictograph.

Now what is a pictograph?

A pictograph is a graphic symbol or picture representing things or


ideas.

A legend is an explanation of the symbol or picture used.
