QUESTIONS
Why does a school only 2 years old have 30% lower assessment
scores than the HCS system average, and 50% less than other schools
in district?
Why do they have half the extracurricular activities of similarly sized
middle schools?
35%
35% or 1 in 3 students received a disciplinary action. In contrast
Huntsville JHS, which serves the same grades, has a rate of 25%.
24%
24% or 1 in 4 students received an Out Of School Suspension,
what I consider a strong disciplinary action. Nearly the same rate
as the amount of all disciplinary action at Huntsville JHS.
10% 41
10%, 1 in 10, or 41 students were referred to police. This number
dwarfs even Mae Jemison HS, where all McNair students attend,
who has twice the population and a student body 2-5 years older.
Jemison had 24 police referrals of their 810 students, or 3%.
QUESTIONS
Why are 1 in every 4 students being removed from school, a greater
rate than all disciplinary actions given in other middle schools?
Why is a middle school referring 2x more students to police than the
high school that it feeds in to? Why is that rate over 3x more than that
high school?
