Project : P-01 Date :

A. Scope of Works

The purpose of this method statement is to identify the defects in concrete at

Ground Floor Walls “W11”, method to rectify the same and to prevent recurrence
of the same in future concrete works.

B. References

i. Architectural & Structural Specification: Cast-in-place Concrete 03300

ii. Architectural & Structural Specification: Plaster 09200
iii. NCR # 004 dated 16/08/2003
iv. Ground Floor Plan for Axis Reference: E00/P250/GF-1

C. Description of NCR

On 14th of August 2003 the Walls of W11 at Ground Floor were cast with an
adjacent column. The internal steel shutter at the corner was not at right angle,
hence resulting in concrete bulging at the internal walls.

During casting, the column went out of plumb since it was not supported from the
external side. As instructed in the NCR, the column shall be demolished and re-built
with prior inspection and approval by the Engineer.

D. Method of Repair for Internal Walls of W11 at Ground Floor

1. From survey lines (Axis Grid) marked on the floor, internal corners shall be set
out by ‘fisher lines’ inside the room 5 cm away from the design location.
2. Using a ‘Plumb-Bob’ and ‘Sprit Level’ the actual limit and extent of deviations
shall be marked on the internal walls.
3. The bulged areas shall be carefully chased out using ‘Bushing Tool Hammer’
with continuous checking of plumb with reference to the set lines and by
aluminum straight edge.
4. Since our ‘Room Finishing Schedule’ specifies plaster and paint finish for
internal walls of Room ‘G-21’, we shall proceed with the plastering works as
per Approved Method Statements.

E. Preventive Action

1. Any damaged or defective Formwork shall not be used for concrete works and
shall be inspected prior to installation.
2. Internal and external shutters used in the corners shall be firmly fixed without
misalignment and shall be rigid enough prevent any movement during casting
