Circular No. NEC 02/2020

REF: MINIMUM W AGE FOR THE INDUSTRY

Please be advised that the industrial agreement on wages and allowances negotiated in
February 2020 lapsed on the 30th of April 2020. On the 27th of March 2020, the Ministry
of Public Service, Labour & Social Welfare through Statutory Instrument 81 of 2020
reviewed the minimum wage, for ail sectors to $2 549.74 per month. A Special Full
Council meeting was held on the 14th of May 2020 and the employer party proposed
that an exemption be sought from the Minister. A decision to apply for the blanket
exemption is stilj pending.

In line with Statutory Instrument 81 of 2020 new schedules have been prepared using
the existing classes, grades and notches differentials and are available at our offices.
Those establishments that are able to pay the new wages are encouraged to do so.
