The Big Ride
Josh Ragan, one of the team members of The Big
Drive, had some other team members all harnessed
up and ready to roll in the old Shopko parking lot
this morning. Brothers Jim and John, a pair of young
Belgian Draft horses, are in charge of pulling the
stagecoach, a replica of the 1880 Abbot & Downing
Concord, built from scratch of oak and iron. A dream-
turned-reality by Gene Bushnell, The Big Ride is a
trek across Montana’s Hi-Line from Troy to the North
Dakota border, a distance of 667 miles with a purpose
of reminding America of our Montana Pioneers and
their determination to settle the Montana frontier with

grace, gumption and grit. Gene maintains that hard
work, honesty, goals and dreams have made this
state a better place. He also wants to encourage the
United States of America to re-elect Donald Trump
for President this coming November. “I believe he is
God’s choice to ‘KEEP AMERICA GREAT’,” he says.
The Big Drive was giving free rides to local residents in
Glasgow today. Donations are gladly accepted, though,
in order to fuel up the trucks, as well as Jim and John
with hay. And who all remembers yelling shotgun for
the all mighty front seat position of the car? They told
Rachel that they would let her ride shotgun today!!!

OBITUARY
Shirley Meiers
Shirley Ann Daniels Meiers,
85, of Missoula, MT, passed away
June 7, 2020, at her home.
Shirley was born July 20,
1934, in Poplar, MT to Harry
and Marie Daniels. She was the
youngest child of five.
She attended Fort Benton High School. Before
she graduated, she was united in marriage to Duane
Meiers in 1951. Their union lasted 65 years. They raised
4 children: Cindy (Ron) Bishop, Duane (Dana) Meiers,
Robert (Jill) Meiers, and Michael (Becky) Meiers. She
spent most of her life owning and working in restaurants
as a short order cook and waitressing. She loved spending
time with her family during the holidays preparing meals
and playing cards. Shirle really loved to crochet and as
her eyesight failed, she continued her passion.
Shirley is survived by her four children, twelve
grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and a
brother Leroy Daniels. She was preceded in death by
her husband, infant son, her parents, sister Edna, and
brothers Art and Bill.
Private grave side services will be held with family.
The Problem Solvers
There was a Mensa Convention in San Francisco
recently. Mensa, as you probably know, is a national
organization for people who have an IQ of 140 or higher.
Several of the Mensa members went out for lunch at a
local café. When they sat down, one of them discovered
that their salt shaker contained pepper, and their
pepper shaker was full of salt. How could they swap
the contents of the two bottles without spilling any, and
using only the implements at hand?
Clearly, this was a job for Mensa minds. The group
debated the problem and presented ideas, and finally
came up with a brilliant solution involving a napkin,
a straw, and an empty saucer. They called the waitress
over, ready to dazzle her with their solution.
“Ma’am,” they said, “we couldn’t help but notice
that the pepper shaker contains salt and the salt shaker
has pepper.”
But before they could finish, the waitress
interrupted. “Oh, sorry about that.”
She leaned over the table, unscrewed the caps of
both bottles and switched them.
