BEFORE YOU PUBLISH
DECIDE ON AN IDEA
- Rotate your categories on each day you publish so you’re covering every topic on
your blog.
- E.g. My categories are “Create Content”, “Get Social”, “Be Productive” and “Build a
Community”. I publish content on a Tuesday and Thursday. So I could work by a Week
A/Week B schedule. Week A: “Create Content” + “Get Social. Week B: “Be
Productive” + “Build a Community”.

Struggling for ideas?

- Look at your Google Analytics for your most popular pieces of content within your
different categories.
- Create a survey to see what your audience needs help with the most.
- Take a look on social media, in comment sections, at email responses and in Facebook
groups to see what questions people are asking.

PICK A KEYWORD

- Use Google’s Keyword Planner to find a keyword and different variations of that
keyword for your blog post.
- *Try to pick a long-tail keyword wherever possible.

WHILE YOU WRITE

CREATE AN OUTLINE

- Plan your post - this will make it so much easier to write.

- Note down the points you want to make in your introduction.
- Jot down ideas for your different sections and paragraphs.
- Note down how you want to conclude it.
- Put your post topic in a big circle at the top of your outline and keep this in mind while
you write.

WRITE IT!

- Make it 1,000 words minimum.

abranchofholly.com
- Make sure you’re solving a problem for your audience.
- Make it actionable - ensure they can go on and take action from it.
- Write in your own voice.
- Craft a brilliant headline that arouses interest and includes your keyword.
- Use subheadings throughout.
- Use short paragraphs, bullet points and other lists where applicable.

MAKE IT STAND OUT

- You can make your blog post stand out by including some of the following:
- Screenshots
- Personal story
- Case study
- Real feedback or quotes
- Other images
- Video
- Audio
- Infographic
- Internal linking

INCLUDE YOUR KEYWORD

- Your keyword needs to feature in the following places:

- Headline
- URL (yep, remember to edit it and separate the keyword with hyphens!)
- Subheadings
- Image file names
- Image alt text
- Meta description
- First 100 words of post

AFTER YOU PUBLISH

PROMOTE YOUR CONTENT

- On the day the post goes live share it:

- Three times to Twitter
- Once to Facebook
- Once to Instagram
- Twice to different boards on Pinterest
- Keep pinning until it’s on all your relevant boards and keep sharing it on Twitter and
Facebook.

abranchofholly.com
- Take part in promo threads in Facebook groups and share the link to your new post.
- Add the link to your Twitter profile and to your Linktree for Instagram.

GROW YOUR MAILING LIST

- When you next write an email to send your mailing list, include a link to your latest
blog post in it.
- If you can, you could create a content upgrade that people can sign up to get that
helps them take action (this is an example of a content upgrade in action!)
