Change Correction Source - Kongsberg DPS11x

Doc. ref.: 31153004_C1

INTRODUCTION
This document describes how to check and change the correction source (satellite beam) being tracked by a
Kongsberg DPS 11x receiver.

BACKGROUND
The Kongsberg DPS 11x is a DGNSS receiver with an internal demodulator that is designed to receive correction
signals from a geostationary satellite, apply the corrections internally and output a highly accurate corrected
position. The demodulator must be configured to track the correct satellite to get the best correction data for
the vessel’s area of operation.

This document explains how to learn which satellite their receiver is configured for and how to select a different
one.

This document is based on the latest internal system firmware on the Kongsberg DPS 11x. Make sure that you
have the latest version installed. You can acquire the latest firmware file and additional resources from hardware
supplier.

SATELLITE BEAMS
In the table you will find the name and frequency for the different satellite beams that are used for transmitting
correction signals.

CHECK SATELLITE BEAM

Press ESC key several times until the position is shown on the home screen display.

Use DOWN until the display shows Demodulator, then press RIGHT.

Then use DOWN until you see status on the lower line.

Use DOWN until the display shows Satellite in the upper line.

The second line will show the satellite beam name.

Use DOWN again to see the specific Frequency being used. Confirm that this
frequency is correct according to the area of operation and the beam table.

Use DOWN once more to see the Symbol Rate. Confirm that this is correct for
the satellite the DPS is tracking.

CHANGE SATELLITE BEAM

Press ESC key several times until the position is shown on the home screen display.

If you need to change the beam you can use DOWN until the display shows
Demodulator on the upper line and Status in the lower line.

Use RIGHT to enter the demodulator Configuration menu.

Use DOWN until the upper line shows Set Satellite. Press the ENTER key and
select the satellite beam with UP and DOWN. Save with ENTER.

If you have set it to Manual you must set the frequency yourself. Press DOWN
until you see Set Frequency then press ENTER.

Use UP and DOWN to change each individual number and LEFT and RIGHT to
change the cursor position.
